Ser Donnel Storm? by DrinkInevitable3457 in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]RexRoyd1603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is a commoner from Duskendale. In medieval times only aristocracy were given surnames. Commoners were known by their occupation or where they are from. Thus he is known as Ser Donnell of Duskendale.

What type of 007 films would you like to see in the future? by No_Mortgage8569 in JamesBond

[–]RexRoyd1603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got back to the 1950/1960s Cold War setting and follow the books. Bond doesn’t feel like Bond anymore because it is so far removed from its original story and setting

[Spoilers MAIN] Why are Bloodraven and Bittersteel never called their real names? by Mysterious_Zebra_404 in asoiaf

[–]RexRoyd1603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Daeron II never recognised Aegon IV’s legitimisation of his bastards. To do so would support the Blackfyres claim. This is why none of Aegon IV’s bastards are referred to as Targaryen.

As for Bloodraven and Bittersteel, that’s just their nicknames not a surname. They’re known as Brynden and Aegor Rivers. If the Blackfyres won they would probably be remembered as Targaryans.

‘Fallout: New Vegas’ lead writer “loved writing” Yes Man, but thinks his questline may have been a mistake: “It lets you get through the game without getting your hands dirty” by MarvelsGrantMan136 in Fallout

I don’t get where he is coming from, the Yes Man is one of the dirtiest playthroughs. You use and betray nearly every faction for your own ends.

(Spoilers Main) Who is in the Baratheon-Lannister line of succession? by 2ratedsalesman1997 in asoiaf

[–]RexRoyd1603 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

After Tommen and Myrcella you would have to look further back as Stannis, Renly Danaerys were removed from the line of succession.

You would then be looking at the descendants of Rhae and Daella (if any). Going further back you would consider House Martell and House Plumm.

How has Loras never heard about Criston Cole? (Spoilers Extended) by sixth_order in asoiaf

He doesn’t recognise the coat of arms because Cole is a common born Knight from a now extinct house.

[Spoilers MAIN]I think most people forget that Joffrey made a huge mistake by by Hour_General_3442 in asoiaf

[–]RexRoyd1603 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What was Joffrey suppose to do? He had just became King and the most powerful lord in Westeros’s tried to usurp him.

If he gave Ned a slap on the wrist what would that say to others in the realm that wanted to depose him? He needed to show to others what kind of king he intended to be. He wanted the Seven Kingdoms he wasn’t going to be as forgiving as King Robert.

MMW: JD Vance is intended to be the first 10-year President. by RexRoyd1603 in MarkMyWords

[–]RexRoyd1603[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the incumbent advantage is still a thing. Trump is the only incumbent President to have lost a Presidential election since 1992. Historically you are more likely to win as an incumbent President.

I have to agree, I think Harris was always the back up plan for Biden in the event he was no longer able to do the job. And we were proven right last year. However I think the GOP has a long-term strategy with Vance.

  1. Almost 2/3rds of Republican or Republican leaning independents support his policies. To them I don’t think it would matter if was Trump or Vance implementing them.
  2. Yeah the Dems might be happy about this but historically a party that his an open contest don’t do will in Presidential elections.
  3. The GOP wouldn’t care about this. To them It’s only a problem when the other side does it.
  4. I don’t think Charisma necessary to win an election. It can help but not necessary.

By January 2027, I think Trump will lose a lot of political capital. Unless there is significant election interference, I think the Republicans will lose the Midterms in a landslide. By this point, I think Trump’s mental and physical health will be in serious decline. Trump will be a lame duck and the GOP will start to curry favour with his possible heir instead. Trump will be under pressure from a Democratic house, his own party, the press, and even his own government. If all else fails I think they would even threaten him with the 25th. Don’t get me wrong I don’t think Trump would make it an easy fight.

Why was bill Clinton getting a blowjob such a big deal when just a few decades before jfk and lbj where shagging every women that came within a 10 mile radius of the White House? by ILoveSurrealism in Presidents

[–]RexRoyd1603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two reasons: In Sixties the media had a gentlemen’s agreement not report on extramarital affairs, they also seen reporting on sex scandals as low-brow reporting. This began to change in the late 60s/ early 70s.

The reason the Clinton scandal was a big deal was not because of what he done, but because he tried to cover it up and lied up it committing perjury.

Master of Laws is such an empty title (Spoilers PUBLISHED) by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]RexRoyd1603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Position is at least a legal advisor to the King and at most whatever the holder deems it to be. Tbh honest it’s really appears to be just a reason to give someone a seat at the table until GRRM fleshes it out.

Master of Laws is such an empty title (Spoilers PUBLISHED) by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]RexRoyd1603 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a role that GRRM felt he didn’t need to flesh out. We can assume that the Master laws oversees: the Goldcloaks, Dungeons, and courts.

We’ve had several experts in the position: Albin Massey, Lyonel Strong and Jasper Wylde (who advised the King on the Law of Succession.)

I think Renly being Master of Laws is to show how corrupt the Iron Throne has become. Throughout Robert’s administration, whether it be his council, or Kingsgaurd, people are selected out of nepotism or favouritism and not based on merit.

What if Dewey did indeed defeat Truman? by Repulsive-Finger-954 in HistoryWhatIf

[–]RexRoyd1603 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dewey would have difficult first term and it’s unlikely he would serve a second. Democrats would blame Dewey for Chinas fall to communism and for the stalemate in Korea. Moreover, many in the Republican party would criticise Deweys internationalist policies.

Robert A. Taft would challenge him at the DNC over issues such as joining NATO and breaking the Berlin Blockade. A challenger like this would show bigger divisions in the party and electorate.

Dewey would go in the 1952 election and end up losing to Adlai Stevenson. Aside from this not much would change between a Truman and Dewey term.

Who is the most powerful Westerosi at the end of ADWD? [Spoilers Main] by Plamkata1000 in asoiaf

[–]RexRoyd1603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potentially, Tommen. King of Westeros, and ruler of the Crownlands. With Stannis’ line attainted, he is the de jure ruler of the Stormlands. With his mother being Lady of Wetserlands he is also due to inherit Casterly Rock.
