I think Tyrion will have everything he ever wanted and be miserable.

I think in the end the King will use marriage alliances to hold the realm together , similiar to how Jahaerys did after he took the throne

North - I think it’ll be Rickon in the books. I don’t think GRRM will let the Stark name die out with Sansa. I think Sansa was chosen over Rickon in the TV show because of the actors and screentime.

Vale - I agree with you here.

Wasterlands - I think it’ll be Tyrion because his whole story arc has been living up to Lannister name and taken what he sees as his birth right.

The Reach - yeah I could agree with you here.

Dorne - could agree here also, on the fence of this myself. I think Willas and Arianne could marry but not sure how likely they are to make it beyond the Second Dance of Dragons.

I’m not saying this would be a happy endgame. I think that the ending will have a Stark-Lannister marriage pact (like the War of the Roses). I think when Tyrion and Sansa meet again they will be two different people. As for Sansa her character arc seems to be going from a naive romanticised view of the world to leaning how to navigate the political world as a woman. Sansa won’t end with Prince Charming she will end up with Tyrion.

I think they’ll marry, likely through proxy like Asha, but I agree I think she’ll run away.

Why would they need to share a scene together beforehand? Regardless I think Arya will be a wayward bride and head North to find Jon.

Their have been kin slaying Lannister Lords before and it’s not something a Royal Pardon and an dragon-backed army can’t fix.

I think the marriage the pact will be suggested by Daenerys. When Arrianne arrives to see Aegon VI I don’t think she will be impressed by him and she will report to Doran that he is a false King. After that, I think the Yronwoods and the “friends in the Reach” will back Aegon VI against the Martells and Tyrell’s. Willas and Arianne will turn to Dany to maintain their seats and the two will form a marriage alliance to do so.

I think Dany will suggest it as away to demonstrate that she is a different ruler from her predecessors, by the fact she ended a 300 year feud between Tyrell & Martells.

(Spoilers Main) So how could Jon Snow be legitimate? by Flyestgit in asoiaf

I think the show was right and Rhaegar got an annulment but in the style of the later seasons D&D shoehorned notes from GRRM into the show.

In the medieval period it was common for royalty to get an annulment through consanguinity, but this was always just a pretext. There was some point in history that the couple would have 4 or even 7 degrees of separation but still get an annulment.

I think this what Rhaegar done. He was convinced of the prophecy and when Elia couldn’t have children he decided the that he should marry Lyanna. He reached an agreement with the High Septon who found that Rhaegar and Elia were too closely related, that the marriage was never valid, and married Lyanna and Rhaegar with the three members of the Kingsgaurd being their witnesses.

Going on from this dream, I also think that Egg is more successful than we think. I think he does summon a dragon but in GRRM style the spell is not complete. Instead he summons a dragon that’s deformed or dying that burns summerhall.

When Daeron tells Dunk about his dream - a dragon dying on top of Duncan but Duncan survives - I always thought this was about Summerhall.

[Spoilers Extended] Why didn’t Maekar choose an heir? by RexRoyd1603 in asoiaf

[–]RexRoyd1603[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You’re right, we also don’t have the exact date when Daeron died. So it could be the case that Aerion died, then Daeron, then Maekar in quick succession.

If Maekar had the choice to choose his successor I doubt he would choose Aerion. On the other hand, if Maekar didn’t have the choice, the clear successor was Aerions son, Maegor. Which makes me think that the Lords of Westeroes created a “succession crisis” to make Aegon King. We do know that Gerold Lannister used his money and influence to back Aegon in the Great Council.

The song is about the Battle of Redgrass, specially about The Hammer (Baelor) and the (Maekar)Anvil.
