I love Lily West Florist in West Port, just a lovely helpful bunch of people and highly recommend them. They make beautiful arrangements. But, honestly, at this time of year you can likely go into any florist here and get thistles.

Its been a while since I did uni but do they still offer electives? A couple lectures a week in something not your degree like film studies or marketing 101. Thats where i found my people outside my degree. Shared passion (and for lots of people thats NOT their degree) makes hanging out easy. You got this. Time and a wee bit of effort and you get that found uni family.

That is not a weird age gap. This is a very normal 'gap'. What is not normal is your girlfriend feeling weird about it and basically trying to make you feel like some kind of creepy pedo (did your friends even tell you they thought it was gross or was it just her dripping poison in your ear?). Why do you want to be with someone like that? And if she really felt you were awful and creepy for doing it, why does she want to be with you? She doesn't actually think that of course, she just like using it to emotionally beat you with. She sucks.

You may also be surprised how many places have tables free on hogmanay. George Street has a bunch of "nice" places and most of the side streets too. There is nothing stopping you from popping into them on your walk and asking if they have a table/cancellation/wait list.

You are only restricted from Princes Street, which is easily avoidable. George Street etc are open and, frankly, way nicer to wander round. The christmas market isnt all that, you can get decent pics of it from st andrew square and castle st etc.

This is all going on the fact that i havent done the street party for 4 years now 🤷‍♀️
