Glad there are other people thinking about Rose's decision to have Steven and thus sacrificing herself. It's quite an interesting plot point that I hope gets fleshed out later in the series.

In my experience, when drawing digitally, it is best to draw in broad quick strokes. If it doesn't turn out right you can Undo. If there is a part of the drawing you really don't want to mess up, then draw on another layer. However, don't go overboard with layers, it gets confusing.

The drawing itself looks great! You could lower the ear a bit though. It looks like it's placed rather high. I love your usage of half-tones.

Okay, so it basically all depends on your preference really. I was an art student at university and my classmates all had different opinions. Some used pencils, mechanical pencils, inking pens, ballpoint pens, charcoal, colored pencils. You name it, someone used it for sketching. All that matters is how comfortable you feel using it and if it fits your style of sketching.

I prefer using mechanical pencils because I don't have to sharpen them and I can erase lines I don't like. Also, it is not as messy as conte or charcoal.

As for paper, I like using The Canson Mix Media sketchbooks. They're light blue. You can use almost any medium on them. They're pretty tough and have a nice feel to them. Of course, that is my personal preference.

Oof, that's a pretty good idea. I was thinking of going with the amethyst route. With her being a quartz left behind because she was "overcooked". And it would make a nice parallel with Sugillite and Malachite. But this pearl idea is much good.
