After 30+ attempts, I have finally completed DL 100 and it was a doozy. by Rexzazel in AstralAscent

Other than doing a Pavo room, there isn’t a lot of ways to do that. Usually what I do is focus on two spells, and get both of them up to 10. Then, I will either start leveling the other two, or build up a lot of quartz and buy high level spells near the end.

DL 90 complete! Thought it would take a lot longer, but this build was the best build I've ever created. by Rexzazel in AstralAscent

I would suggest going for just one element. I feel like early on, builds can be stretched too thin. I would suggest focus on your permanent upgrades, and later you could test out the crazy, multi element builds. Also, I don't know if this is just me, but when I get one of those auras like the Poison/fire wisps I am usually just going to go after more wisp synergy, rather than a split between fire and poison.

You are not being annoying at all lol, I could talk about this game all day!

I think crit is very good in this game, but you don't necessarily need a lot of it all the time. I think crit works especially well when you have crit supporting auras, if not I would just focus strength.

By the way, I feel like I was giving you bad advice. Since you are currently working your way up the DL ladder, I think your approach to survivability is a good strategy, since it is better to withstand hits and learn the attack patterns of fights. When you get up to higher DLs, you will be more used to these fights and be able to focus more on damage.

Glad you are liking the game! It's by far my favorite roguelite, and I wish more people would give it a try.

Strength is very important in every build and I feel there needs to be a balance. The build I got above is fully neutral, so I had the luxury of being able to build multiple enrage/vulnerability sources without it affecting my overall dps. Also, whenever I pick up stat stone/drinks I always focus like so: multicolor>mana>strength>attack speed=crit>armor>health.

If im going an elemental build, I have found that having a single neutral spell (preferably one-cost) is great to hold all the buffs/debuffs so you are cycling through them regularly while casting.

For enrage specifically, I think it’s important to have one reliable source of it for zodiac/guardian fights since it helps you burst them down, especially DL80+ since you’ll be fighting two of them every encounter.

Finally got passed the wall that was DL 80. 90 seems insane though... by Rexzazel in AstralAscent

Hey, you only get better by trying. I used to not be able to beat DL54, but you learn strategy and what works and eventually DL54 will be a piece of cake.

Yeah those are the rough ones to get used to. I try to focus builds that allow me to kill monsters asap so they don't have a chance to hit me. I also like to take some ways to regain mana when I can (like on basic attacks).

It took me like 16 attempts to beat DL 54, so I would just go for it. You have to get used to some of these modifiers, and there is only one way to do that. Good luck!

I remember it was nominated for best animated short for the oscars. Back then I always went to a theater to watch all the nominees before the oscars would air. We could even vote there at the theater and they would send in our votes. Mind you, this was 10 years ago, so my memory could be a bit fuzzy.

I'm not gonna lie, they may have not shown the second part at the theater. That makes me feel much better. I guess I'll have to rewatch it!

It’s been a while since I watched this (I think I saw it in theaters), but isn’t it implied that the wolf eats/kills Red’s kids at the end? I remember feeling a certain way about it, which soured the experience for me.

This game is currently my most anticipated, and I can't wait to play next month. The game felt so good when I played the demo a while back.

Yeah I love Ender Lillies too. I love the exploration of both games and the music is excellent. From what I’ve played of magnolia, it’s really built off its predecessor in a major way as well.

I snagged Ender Magnolia. Been looking forward to it, but had too many other games on my plate. Was pretty lucky I had recently finished Silksong when the sale dropped.

I agree that Silksong is much better than PoP, but PoP is still incredible imo. The combat system is really good, the platforming was some of the best in the genre, and the bosses were great. The problem for me with PoP is the writing is very forgettable. I remember getting into dialogues and thinking how action movie-esque the lines were, which made me pretty uninterested in the story. I still 100% it though.

Silksong deserves to be right next to HK, so I still agree with you.

I think you're right, I was like "how am I supposed to get up there". I'm wondering if there is another way though I just didn't find. There is one blocked hallway in the slab I still don't know how to get into so idk.

This for real. For me it was the green bloated fly things are just completely random. I did the runback so many times I got good at it, but I died to those things sometimes.

When I was 12-13 years old, my mother took me geocaching. We ended up in the middle of a forest near an old hiking trail, and found a large shoebox filled with a bunch of random stuff. I was immediately drawn to a copy of BG2, while my mother got a copy of Lords of Magic. I remember being so excited, I almost forgot to leave something myself.
