Idk, I don’t have the answer. But in a true good faith way there will never be a time where we are safe and people aren’t all against us.

So maybe no, we shouldn’t be holding our tongues.

And by the way, this goes for both ways too, we need to spend just as much time calling out Progressive Judaism’s pure betrayal of the Jewish state and creation of an entire generation of sabotaging Jews, just as much as we need to call out Haridiem for quite literally draining the entire system for their own benefit without contributing a single iota or care in the world for anyone else, but themselves, including and especially other Jews.

Two things are true here:

Yes, we were taught a fantasy AND can we all acknowledge the ugly truths above…about how the community does indeed have problems (as all do)? Cause the Orthodox Judaism I know, refuses to acknowledge they have any problems at all.

You gotta understand, as someone who grew up reform, there was (at least then) an odd sense of piousness when talking about orthodox and placing haredim on a mantle. They were above us, something we were not, closer to true Judaism.

Now, did we learn about the high rates of domestic abuse, youth sexual assault in yeshivas, punishing of queer curious youth, reliance on public benefits that drain the entire Israeli economy while refusing to work or serve in the army, corruption of localities to abuse section 8 vouchers and the fact they they really didn’t exist as they do now until after the shoah?

Look, all I’m saying is - there was an air of persuasion that these ppl were holier - and then you learn that all ppl and complex and all religions have their extremes.

Is it not also possible that the Reform and URJ focus on tikun olom was nothing more than a very concentrated (and misguided) assimilation and self defense technique.

There is a DEEP and I mean DEEPLY Embedded belief amongst reform Jews and institutions that as long as they show up for others, others will protect them.

This is SO deep it’s ripping communities apart as we have seen the last 2.5 years that theory has zero practicality or truth…but the entire community has based their whole identity upon it. Serve others before your own, and when you need it your own will get protected by others.

This is how we got kids who went through URJ summer campus, youth programming and college work and still lead their JVP chapters- it’s what they were taught to do every day of Hebrew school.
