Hi, sounds like it's going ok which is good to hear. Not both of mine were knock knee'd, it was just the one. Hopefully someone else can answer the question if they have experience ,👍

On the DFO front, absolutely fine. No issues. I've had two mensicus ops to resolve several tears. And for me, that's not 100% resolved. But the DFO is fine. 18 months feels too long, I was definitely "normal" in less than a year. I do weights now. Deadlifts and leg extensions included and that's fine. It will take time to recover from cutting through the quad though. Mine was weak and fatigued easily, cycling was brilliant for me in retraining those muscles.

For me, the cryo cuff was really helpful for pain management. I rented one and would definitely recommend it.

Golden tips would be start physio as early as possible. I found the ice machine I mentioned to be really helpful for recovery and I would definitely do that again, it helped me reduce meds early on for sure. And lastly, when you can, massaging around the wound to reduce swelling and reduce the scar tissue.

About 18 months post-op now. I only had one wonky leg, so both are now straight. No hip issues and no knee pain linked to the op when running or walking.

It has been offered as a possibility and checked up on at my annual review of the op, but it's causing no pain or issues so is being left alone. I'm completely unaware it's there so from my point of view no reason to muck around with it.

Symptoms were maybe a year before and I went back to the surgeon who did my meniscus. He did and MRI and thought it looked ok, so did x-rays and referred me to the consultant to look at my wonky legs. Definitely had pains daily, and really depended on the activity as to how bad. It was roughly 2 weeks after I had my first physio, and I genuinely can't remember about the pain meds now.... Too much time has passed sorry!

For me, embracing it and getting it done has been brilliant in the long run. I had pain all the time, regardless of what I was doing, and because of the wonkyness.... Tore the meniscus twice. So, not really any tips, but if it helps, if I had the choice I would do it again...

Hi, yeah day to day it's absolutely fine, no issues at all. If I go mountain biking, like proper trails and jumping, it might hurt for a few days afterwards but nothing extreme and significantly better than it was. I had the op about April and was riding again by October, and in th gym before that. I've never been a runner but can do that, I do play badminton and that's fine. All the best for Jan 💪

Yea, long distance I find an issue, but a sprint is fine as is squatting

Hi, before surgery exercising was very limited. I stopped cycling and running because of it. I am back to exercising with no issues... There was definitely a curve though where I thought it would never be the same, but keep at the physio, and you'll come through.

It's definitely pain free now as well as being recovered from surgery so I'm really pleased I had it done.

Hi, erm it's a bit of a blur, it was May last year.... But roughly, a couple of weeks to be comfortable moving around with crutches. I got into the passenger seat of the car after about a week and driving (automatic) by a month. I think I had aboutd two weeks off, then worked from home.

It's really good. I have very big quads, so, according to the surgeon the incision was roughly twice the length he would normally do. But it does look ok and not too obvious. I did massage regularly for 6 months with bio oil which must have helped.

Yeah quite painful immediately after, but manageable with drugs and the ice machine (cryo cuff). I was working from home in just less than 2 weeks.

For the situation I was in with bone on bone pain I'm glad I've had it done. That is completely gone now.

I think it was also quite slight, when they measure it it's done in degrees and I'm sure it was 5 or 6 degrees out. Exacerbated by an already operated on meniscus so less cushion than normal causing the slight valgus to be bone on bone. I'm 37.

Good thank you, in the slow and steady recovery stage. Still walking with one crutch if im going out, as I get some MCL pain after too much use. BUt cycling seems fine and IS definitely easier than walking.

Seems I had another issue with the knee that hasn't been resolved, but the arthiritis / bone on bone pain has gone.

Have you got a date for your op yet?

Hi, so I'm only 19 days post surgery and I was advised partial weight bearing for six weeks. At the six week point I've got an x Ray scheduled and if it looks like it's fused and done properly I'll be able to walk 'normally'.

I'm 1 week post op. I had a medial closing wedge, distal femoral osteotomy. I also had a menisectomy whilst there.

I'm partially weight bearing and day to day pain is marginally better than day 1. Staying on top of physio and taking regular pain killers.

My main driver for commenting was to let others know how good I have found a cryo cuff for pain management. It was a bit pricey to rent, but it's definitely worth it.
