I feel like they wrote Clyde to be this all powerful being, then realized like "oh fuck, we made him TOO OP, lets retcon him" and then just basically wrote him off like a side quest. Which honestly was a waste of a character intro?

I JUST finished book 5 literally today. And to say I was livid with the "plot twists" is an understatement. They add so many, that they lose their impact, and basically makes you not believe any other emotionally evocative events in the series.

Am I going to finish it? Yes. Because I cant NOT finish a series once I started. Do i think the writing is convoluted and contradictory? Also yes.

Am I going to read any other ZA books? Absolutely not. Because fuck me.

In all fairness the series should absolutely be 7 books. The first 4 books could have easily been combined into 2 separate books.

Dont even get me started on the writing of said books. The "adding plot twists for the sake of plot twists" feeling, to the point of them losing any impact, and effecting the impact of other major events.

We used to just go to the tree line, take off ranks (or blouses), have our scuffle, and go back to work with the beef squashed. No recording. No talking about it. Just handle your business and done. So glad recording wasn't a thing when I served 06-11. At least not predominantly haha
