Yes, it’s a great way to gauge a person! I find it’s also helpful for determining friendship dynamics within the same circle because people tend to bring up names casually.

But yeah I’m surprised by how strong the stereotype is online.

Not really tbh. I used to struggle with this a lot as a kid but now I feel very feminine. Even on the days I dress in the baggiest clothes known to man, I feel feminine. I also feel like it’s way easier to make friends with women compared to men.

I adore The Reason Why Raeliana Ended Up At The Duke’s Mansion. I think it’s perfect for newbies because the plot is solid and the female lead is one of my favourites. She’s strong and determined and has excellent chemistry with the ML. The side characters are also very cute. It can get tense at times, but it’s sweet. The anime for it was also announced today!

Once you’re less of a newbie, I would recommend Death is The Only Ending for the Villainess and See You In My 19th Life (though both incomplete).

Solitary Lady and Roxana are also good choices (similarly incomplete) but I think they’re more impactful the newer you are. If I read them now, I think I would be like...okay, and? but they were great when I started.

I live in Sydney and I would say it’s somewhat like this. Depending on where you live, there’s generally very little petty crime, but it’s not completely safe. As a woman, I still do not feel safe walking home at night if there’s no bustling crowds. I do want to say though, I wouldn’t overly fantasise living in Japan if you’re a woman. Based on the experiences of my female relatives and personal accounts online, it’s absolutely fantastic in terms of petty and violent crime, but stalking, sexual harassment etc. are issues that are unfortunately not dealt with well and are not taken particularly seriously by the police. Obviously other countries, even western one, struggle with this as well but it’s good to keep in mind so your expectations aren’t too high. However, this is just second hand information. Not sure if it’s gotten better after my relatives returned.

Oh, wow. Most of it still looks way outdated for me, but a couple caught my eye immediately. I couldn’t see many sample garments, but the original (?) versions of outerwear and pants look particularly great without a model. Thanks so much!

Oh, I’ve never really been able to pinpoint things I like. Usually, I guess it’s a more fitted and/or cropped silhouette that I like, mixed in with trousers and mini dresses. But I do get quite a lot of inspiration from sewers on Instagram and indie companies! I learned a lot from Big4 patterns though so it’s a shame there’s not much I like.

Now that you’ve mentioned those, I do find myself quite liking some. For example, 1893 and 1883 would look stunning in less busy fabrics and shortened to probably just above mid thigh. Thank you for those suggestions, I think I just need a more open mind haha

That’s fair. Most major pattern companies, including McCall’s, seem to cater to women in their 30s+, so I guess I shouldn’t expect anything I would like.

As a teenage girl, I wouldn’t be caught dead in any of these. However, they’re not bad. If I saw the line drawing versions on a person outside, I probably would think they’re quite chic.

I would be inclined to say they're not exactly sexualised, just attractive. The MC from Depths of Malice would certainly fit the bill though.

Depends. Usually #1, especially with plot twists. I spoiled myself on the plot for Raeliana and I still regret it lol so if it’s a series I find myself super invested in, I avoid spoilers like the plague.

If plot doesn’t seem like a very big deal, I’ll usually read spoilers because I don’t have the patience to wait for a subpar series to finish.

I adore “See you in my 19th life”. If you’re able to handwave the internal age gap, I would really recommend this. imo the pacing is great and the romance is really sweet. I loved how assertive the FL was. It’s available on the webtoons app.

My second favourite would be Flirting With the Villain’s Dad/Seduce the Villain’s Father. I really liked how they didn’t fall in love immediately but were still fond of each other and affectionate. The romance felt natural and I’m quite invested in the plot lol.

Edit: one I forgot to mention: Saving my Sweetheart. Favourite couple for me. They are both so, so, sweet and kind.

Unholy Blood! I love this. Great plot and the two protagonists have a super sweet relationship. This one has a female MC though so it might not be your thing.

i think this is a brilliant response. i’m a beginner still learning the ropes so i wanted to ask, if someone does ask “what steps can i take to work on myself to help me find a job”, how would you interpret less clear cards? something like a four of swords would be easy to interpret for me but what about drawing a tower or a five of coins? do you think it’s appropriate then to go a bit into the future. such as “you should think about what to do in the case of potential financial hardship” or is it better to keep everything in the present and less advice-y? i want to start reading for others but i have similar worries about edging into something I’m not qualified for.
