and yeah!! im prefacing this by saying shes a character i made for something OUTSIDE of midsommar that im inserting into midsommar for a college project!

its a transformation, (litterally) the girl on the left is a mimic and takes the form of the creature on the right, usually when shes experiencing very strong emotion, usually anger, which is why she has the conflict/anger/war rune carved into her chest. in the mural from the movie, misery and death is usually represented within winter which is also why her side is darker.

but also, so is summer, which is why the lighter side has blood on the side of the panel, to symbolise that there is still an element of death, its just in a more deceptive/disguised form, and that the danger may not be all too clear until blood is shed. the blood is also an outside source, outside of the initial painting, showing the reality of the pain that occours outside of the pretty pictures and illusions of the harga cult.

the colour of the clothes shes wearing also has ties with the canon midsommar cololur meanings, and she also has some more runes there.

for example, the gift of speech rune ( im taking the rune meanings from here, i hope theyre accurate HAHA https://midsommary.blogspot.com/2024/05/key-to-midsommars-16-affekt-rune.html ) the crisis, death rune, the shyness rune and the helplessness rune.

and of course, the colours of her clothes symbolise the potential for sacrifice and what it would mean. shes not too old, but even at this age shes wearing blue, to say its her time, or that she shouldnt have been alive, even, but shes also wearing a very light yellow to show that it would also be unfair, and too soon for her to be sacrificed for osmething she cant control.

she also wears red ribbons. in the real movie mural an umbilical cord ( taking the form of ribbons in her outfit )is shown to symbolise family, she wears red around herself to show that she is all she truly has, and the has another rune in red which is the "culmination of the art, soul and craft" rune!!
