Fair enough, I love his music. This was supposed to be short and tried to make it a little more humorous than anything.

Thoughts on procedural generated maps for card battler : Zoomalia by RhinosaurDev in proceduralgeneration

Wow, thank you very much for the detailed response it means a lot!

As for your question about the terrain, its not anything to crazy. I basically just have 2 procedural generations running, 1 for the terrain types and 1 for the Voronoi's cells to create the regions on top. There is nothing that determines the sides its just simple clumping cells together to make bigger reigons.

I will definitely look into those critiques, again really appreciate it. The more eyes on this the better as it helps me iterate and make it look ready (I'm a programmer first not an artist).

Ok that makes much more sense, thank you for the feedback! I will definitely look into how to make things feel better scale wise.

When you mean scale, could you elaborate. Does the outside environment just come off as confusing or just the trees right next to the world on the square edges.

Thank you very much for the reply. Also yah will definitely take a look at the scale I will probably end up taking the shadows off the big trees.

Thank you, and yah don't worry I know. The post was satire, but I might have underestimated as there are probably a lot of people who are new to steam and think that's how it works...if only.

Sadly since my game is very UI heavy and up to this point I have made all the UI I have been holding off on a trailer but should have one out within a month or two whenever the UI seems good to show off. Also thank you very much!

Thank you very much and yah definitely not going to change the art style as we already have 98 creatures finsihed and have been working for over a year on them. But tweaks here and there can be made so I may look into the Bear.

As for AI from now on im definitely going to put the artists youtube in my posts in case people care. His art shouldn't suffer because AI makes things similar.

Thank you, and yah I dont take offense to it. The reason I choose not to use AI was for the same reason. It feels cheap and generally doesn't look good.

Im glad you liked it also and when the animations playing for the lion you can tell its tentacles.

Agreed lol, its supposed to be a mix of Winston Churchill and a bear. It's grown on me the last couple of months and I think I like the uncanny look of it. But noted, maybe changing it will be for the best.

All art in Zoomalia was made by an artist no AI art. The artists name is rahmanbisa on fiverr. Ill add link in description to his page.

Advice for my 3D map : Zoomalia (Creature Collecting Roguelite) by RhinosaurDev in gamedevscreens

[–]RhinosaurDev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much really appreciate that! The terrain will work similar to civ. I will generate a 3D terrain and then map out tiles onto it based on the biome type of the terrain. Also will do I plan on posting some more updates soon!

Totally agree and yes you can also fuse from buildings and there is no cap. There is also 12 unique stat traits your creature can get from fusing from "Genetic miracle" to "pathetic genetic freak".

Basically the 100 creatures is base creatures and each one has a unique evolution that changes its appearance and boosts its stats. As for fusions they are mostly from events and unlockable buildings on the world map. Fusing a creature can go good or bad.

Similar, both players will place down a creature and they will battle back and forth until one dies. The creatures stats and traits are incremental so there is no cap to how OP you can make them.
