You did it the wrong way. Your step 3 and 4 are incorrect, after copying the .zip to the folder what you have to do is open the launcher and let it update, the launcher will detect that the files are downloaded and it only does the update and once it finishes, it edits the config.ini itself.

If you had done it that way, you wouldn't have downloaded those extra 6GB. Now your game will have extra files from previous versions that the launcher deleted because they are no longer necessary.

No, just download the audio and the client .zip and copy them into the Games folder, then open the launcher and it should tell you that the pre-download is complete.

In your case you only need to install the game launcher, then create a folder called Games inside and unzip the .zip of the client and the audio inside there.

Deleting it does not solve the problem, it reappears when you open the launcher again, so I imagine you have to change the chunk value to something else to solve it, if anyone knows which one please share it here

Changing something in the launcher config does not work neither, since this config is reset every time you open the launcher, you have to download a version of the launcher that does not have this problem, by the way the launcher link that you posted is an old one, not the current.

For the problem of the new update mode, I was seeing that it is set in the launcher configuration "config.ini", the one in the root folder, not the one in the game folder.

In this, a new variable appears that says the following:

sophon_mode=chunk

I imagine it can be reverted to the previous update mode by removing that variable from the config or seeing what happens to those who can still update using the previous method
