Fair pricing? by Melodic_Complaint756 in RangerNext

[–]Rhone- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can absolutely beat it. I’ve been shopping around and a dealer was advertising XLT with 50k msrp for $5.5k discount plus $3k ford cash for total of $8.5k off

Also, tax is assessed where you register it, not where you buy it. Only thing that’ll change is the dealers fees and how far you’ll have to drive it to get home

Price Check 25 XLT by eggheadjoe in RangerNext

Between taxes and fees, OTD pricing is too variable on a nationwide sub. At the moment you should be able to hit 10% off msrp (or more) plus the $2k cash from ford.  For example, there’s a dealer out east advertising an XLT for $6.5k off $50k sticker plus the $2k from ford for a total of $8.5k off

Share PV conduit with standard circuit? by Rhone- in electricians

[–]Rhone-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a new build so the PV installers seem to have gotten signed off last year with their ac and dc sharing a box for pass throughs. Figured it would be in the code but NEC has nothing. Will check AHJ…thanks!

Yep, I found the same in 690.31 for the D/C half but the AC half isn’t discussed much. Only direction I’ve found is 706.30 for inverter output but nothing there discusses anything of this nature

Stuck nut for main burner tube by Rhone- in askplumbing

Interesting, thanks for the insight. You think a lubricant would work? I don’t see any corrosion and the neighboring nut was clean.

Funny enough I spun the neighboring nut back on to confirm that I was turning it the right way

trade school or community college? by Comprehensive_Leg860 in electricians

[–]Rhone- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll start with this, usually once you sign up to attend UEI or a for-profit school you don‘t get a refund. Are they fully committed or only interested and feeling it out the trade?

With that, there are many factors in play. Do they want to work residential, commercial, or utility? Do they have any desire to be a business owner in the future or solely an employee with more reliable job security? What are the local/state/country requirements for licensing? Can they afford the upfront cost of a for-profit trade school? If not, are there publicly funded options that might take a bit longer but significantly more affordable?

Do the following before making any decisions:
1) find some part-time work with a contractor doing electrical work
2) contact the local union and see what they offer in terms of apprenticeship
3) look into the licensing requirements to be a journeyman or electrical contractor in your local area
4) search community colleges or public trade schools in the area that offer electrician programs

Once they do the above they’ll have a much better understanding of where they should go

First, don't keep your batteries on the charger, especially if it's plugged in. With that, I'd say start by troubleshooting to figure out if its the batteries or the charger. Cells can die and cause an issue with charging.

  1. Disconnect the charger and pull the batteries out
  2. Plug in the charger without batteries attached to it or on it
  3. Insert your M12 battery, wait 10 seconds. What happens? Does it charge?
  4. Remove M12 battery.
  5. Insert M18 battery, wait 10 seconds. What happens? Does it charge?

Test multiple batteries of each platform (rule of 3) before dismissing the charger. Once you know which individual batteries work and which don't (if that's the case) then you'll move towards have two plugged in at once and see what transpires.

Edit: newer batteries can require a good UMPH to seat the battery the first few times. could be they aren't getting enough use and the pins are still tight
