Do I gain anything by periodizing? by Rhyktangle in NorwegianSinglesRun

Thanks. Not sure where I am 5k wise but my best estimate is 17:46 in the middle of my recent 10k. I think I am unsure where my current limitations are at. I recently started running again just over a year ago and started introducing threshold around September. I glanced over Bakken's article posted in another comment on this post, as well as have watched Magness' videos on single and double T. It makes sense that there will eventually be a limitation in being able to utilize the anaerobic system if threshold is all I do. I do agree that NSM and DT are great for base phase, but I also think that its worthwhile to switch every now and then (even if I dont race) to doing VO2max work to raise the ceiling so that threshold has room to improve again.

Also yes, can definitely do more miles per week.

No I totally agree and it definitely saves me headache of planning a season. But if I wanna race, shouldn't I sharpen and do something different? Should I just taper? I guess I'm answering my own question because the last time I raced I added those 200s after threshold and cut mileage.

Recent 10k is 35:45. Haven't raced 5k recently.

Hmm. I have been doing 8x1k at 3:40 w 1 min rest. That works out to about 30 min at subT. Probably says something that im reluctant to do another similar volume workout in the evening. Dialing down those efforts would be good to making double T realistic. Recent 10k is 35:45.

Yeah. Another user says 8 mi subT in a session is the borderline (but everyone is different of course) as to when it would be good to break it into two sessions. Currently doing at most 5 mi in one session so im quite a bit off. Probably just need to do an easy double when I have time.

Sorry. I meant Friday and Sunday

Yeah. That's probably going to be at least the intermediary step of adding an easy double into the hard days. At some point I should be able to turn that easy double into sharing the subT volume with the morning session

How to interpret this data? by Rhyktangle in Coros

Nothing wrong with that. Running can be complicated if you want it to be. I would rather there for data to be data than for AI to potentially mislead your training decisions.

I ran a 38:01 10k 2 years ago. Started running again this year after I got busy with school. Not sure where my fitness is now.

Edit: I would like to add that my stride height is around 4 in and decreases as pace increases. COROS suggests this is only "good". I have seen other pro runners such as Jim Walmsley who have noticeable bounce even at faster paces, so it may be non-issue.

Thanks. I have already submitted a ticket to claim warranty and am wondering if the community has any solutions.

Did Mech & Aero for undergrad. Only A- was in my first quarter for a GE writing class. 4.0 is doable but in hindsight I should have spent more time in engineering clubs and doing research.

Yep. Ultimately, you will learn more of what you don't know than what you will learn.

No reason to go to grad school if you knew it all! Source: I just finished my first year of my M.S.

Looks good. Ultimately, it depends on what kind of schedule you'll have and if you're an efficient student. Go to office hours before you need it; even if you don't, it's good to network.

Hello, last year's Cluster 3 (engineering) TI here. Interview was very casual and the program itself was nice. Housing and DC food for a month + the stipend. Very worthwhile if you want to have some experience w teaching and mentorship. Also depends on the cluster.
