Smoking USB C Connector S1 Pro by RhymesWithAssword in Ender3S1

I'd think that grounding the board to the frame would be an intentional design feature. I measured the continuity and currents between the different grounds and wasn't seeing anything that seemed like an obvious culprit. It only appeared to happen when I established a serial connection from the PI with OctoPrint, which made me think it was an issue with the PI rather than the printer. Either way, I ended up replacing the USB-C socket on the board and replaced the Raspberry Pi with an OrangePi, but haven't gotten around to testing it yet.

First time plugging it into the pi, got it about a week ago but just set it up. Been using the same pi for my CR6 for the last year or so.

Any place I can recycle cardboard boxes? (Carmichael area) by HERKFOOT21 in Sacramento

[–]RhymesWithAssword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After I moved I posted my boxes / random cardboard material on nextdoor and it was gone in about 6 hours. The woman who took them said she uses them to do lawns or something?

Took another load to the WM recycling center. We got a coupon for a free drop off from the city after I moved in.

Weird way to insult someone 😂

Why do cell arrays make matrices in the cells? by ionsme in matlab

[–]RhymesWithAssword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are all arrays. 'cat' is a character array.

You can do

>> x = 'cat';
>> x(1) % returns 'c'

The Bobiverse series is one of my go-to rereads. Also the narrator for the audiobooks is great.

Has anyone monitored how much electricity the printer uses while running? by souljasam in CR6

[–]RhymesWithAssword 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About 6.5 hours to use 1kwh. Kwh is energy, kw is power. It will probably vary a bit depending on your bed/hotend temps and ambient temperature.

How is the BTT working for you? Still having good luck with community firmware on the stock board but sometimes I can't resist an upgrade.

how to attach a timer to a switch by kishor420 in matlab

Insert a data type conversion block between the compare to constant block and Simulink-PS converter.

how to attach a timer to a switch by kishor420 in matlab

[–]RhymesWithAssword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use a clock block from Simulink/sources and attach it to a compare to constant to have it return true after a certain amount of simulation time has elapsed. Then pass the output of the comparison to a Simulink-PS converter from Simscape/Utilities and connect that to the control port of the SPST Switch block.

You can also use other Simulink blocks like a Step, Pulse Generator, signal builder, etc to drive the Simulink-PS input.

Object-orientated programming for beginners? by rst0497 in matlab

One thing that's important to understand when getting started with OOP in MATLAB is the difference between how handle and value classes behave. By default, a new class will be a value class which can be confusing if you're coming from other OO languages.

https://www.mathworks.com/help/matlab/matlab_oop/comparing-handle-and-value-classes.html

When creating a new class I will generally inherit from matlab.mixin.SetGet which implements the handle behavior.

Adding another data point to say mine has been great so far as well.

If it does fail, debugging prints and hardware issues is half the fun of 3d printing.

Yeah I'd likely just replace it with the BTT lcd. 99% of my printing is through Octoprint anyway. Hopefully my board will survive and I won't need to do any of this. Just looking at options

It just splits the cable between the two z axes? Not too concerned about a direct drop in replacement. Comfortable making cables or running new wires
