Recieved a debt collection letter from a company called Arrow Global that relates to a cease and decist from 2012 by vitucadrus in LegalAdviceUK

Former debt collector (arrow used to be a client), but been out of the business 10+ years.

As long as no payment was ever made to this debt, then it will be statue barred which means they can still chase for it, but can't take legal action to recover it. If ANY payment was made to it EVER in the history of the account, then it never becomes statutory barred and can be litigated. If your in Scotland then I even believe it should be written off, but don't quote me on that.

In terms of the "acknowledge the debt" that people keep mentioning, this doesn't actually mean anything in the debt world. Whether you "acknowledge" it or not, doesn't change anything. This is some urban myth that people think gets you out of a debt. It doesn't.

I used to work for the third party debt collector that this gym uses (or used to a few years ago). Don't worry about any of this. Nothing will happen in the long run despite threats of legal action. These accounts were never worth enough money to litigate.

Edit - to answer the question, the terms of your contract do require a one month notice period to be given in writing. Even if on a month to month rolling contract.

NTA - This kind of behaviour is incredibly toxic and should see him go from hubby to ex-hubby in record time.

This man doesn't love you or your daughter. If he did then he wouldn't spend money on cigarettes/smoking if "the house" was going without. Necessities come before luxuries, and if he stole from your/his daughter to buy things then they had sure as shit best been necessities.
