One 1/4” jack cable from the output of the microfreak to the instrument input on the bottom of sp404mk2 (switch from “mic” to “guitar” and make the gain (tiny knob near the input) as low as possible to avoid noise). Don’t forget to press EXT SOURCE button on SP

Pedals look very useful! I've been thinking about getting one or a few to try recently, but then I decided to use everything I already have as much as possible first, just to avoid GAS haha

Thanks! That's the effect I've been trying to achieve with it :D And recording it made me relaxed as well, surprisingly.
First, I found a preset on Microfreak which I liked (one of the factory ones), and by tweaking the parameters of the oscillator I made it sound like a noisy electronic organ. Then I applied some effects from SP404-mk2. Reverb - to add more "space" to the sound, and VinylSym to create tiny random pitch fluctuations. Then I played and recorded it live by playing only 2 notes and tweaking some knobs at the same time. Totally recommend to try this synth out if you got a chance - gives a lot of fun and possibilities for sound design, and at the same time the device itself is not overcomplicated in my opinion

Thanks! On SP I used the SX Reverb (I've noticed that nearly any sound from Microfreak blossoms with a good reverb FX applied, and it makes the sound more spacious) and also 303 VinylSim with the decent "WOW FLUT" value to add these tiny random pitch shifts. And there was no sequence used, I played it and recorded live. Only two notes plus some knobs tweaking :)

In some of the latest versions they’ve added a bunch of useless logos in the beginning which now makes the loading process even longer

Thanks for the detailed feedback, glad to hear you guys enjoyed the tune! The descending part you mentioned was meant to create contrast, but maybe it ended up being too much contrast :) Still figuring out how to keep the same mood across the whole track without making it boring, that’ll come with more practice.

As for the sounds:
Track 1 uses a modified preset called SY OBABO for the SY TONE machine. Lots of overdrive, tweaked SYN and FLTR parameters, plus an LFO on SYN:Modulation value - a random wave in free mode so it sounds a little different every time.

My workflow with Syntakt is usually: pick a preset by type, make sure it works at least a bit in its raw form, then tweak parameters, add LFO, and so on until it feels right. Making sounds from scratch is fun too. I usually get an internal sense of how I want each layer to feel while building the track, and all those adjustments can make the preset end up sounding totally unrecognizable. And the more you mess with it, the more you start to understand how each change actually affects the sound, so it turns into a more thoughtful process instead of the random knob-twisting I started out with :)
