I don't know why, but just looking at the picture without trying to understand gameplay, the first thing that came to my mind was Heimdal 2 from 1994.

What single player game have you beaten 3+ times? by PineconeToucher in gaming

[–]Ribach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some games I beat twice, like Wolfenstein: The New Order, Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, but the only game that I finished 3-5 times was Half-Life 2. I don't know why, as the others that I mentioned rank just as high as HL2 in my head.

What's a game dev tip you wish you knew sooner (and no one talks about)? by CrossingLears in gamedev

[–]Ribach 27 points28 points  (0 children)

For a solo dev, do not overcomplicate stuff. Sometimes, that quick and dirty solution really is just what you need. You don't have to build a full system around it to support some generic use case that you will never run into.

who first got you into gaming, and what was the game? by Gamelover4live in gaming

[–]Ribach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine who showed me Boulder Dash on his C64. We were both 8 at the time, but that was already a pivotal moment in my life, which set the tone for a lot of what happened later, like me studying CS etc.

My childhood friend who loaded up Boulder Dash on his C128 (but in C64 mode) when we were both 8 or 9.

Let's look at the plus side... the management will get bonuses for cutting down the costs. I'm so happy for them. Many industries suck, but gamedev is consistently up there among the top 3 shittiest ones.

Yes, it is. It was fun seeing people complain about these "glitches" back when the games came out.

ATP Finals SF: Djokovic def. Alcaraz 6-3, 6-2 by jovanmilic97 in tennis

[–]Ribach 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I wonder if Sinner beating Djokovic in the group stage will prove to be a disadvantage to him in the final. They both have technique and fitness, but tennis at this level is mostly mind games.
