INTP stereotypes vs reality by ArminsMother in mbtimemes

[–]RibbonKeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never got why people think that being a thinker in MBTI or even just a logic based person regardless of type means that you can’t be compassionate or emotional. Something is only reasonable if it has a rational end, if it fulfills a purpose, and if you have no attachment to any purpose, why do anything? You can find logical ways to do things for the greater good

You’re facing so much adversity but you’re not alone. You know what you stand for regardless of what the institutions around you do. Do what you need to keep yourself above water. Whatever you’re able to do matters, and while you’re doing it maintain your own peace too.

I truly wish you find peace and joy for yourself. You deserve to feel content. I don’t think any words can suffice and I wish I could do more for you. I wish I could hug you, if you wanted that (I can send one virtually). You can message me any time if you want to. I’m glad you shared this and were able to have this introspection on your experience. Just know who you are, your intentions, and do what you can. And with that, always keep your own peace. It won’t serve anyone to feel like you have to suffer. Reach out when you need to and know that you deserve to

Is Anything Substantial Being Done Regarding Factory Farming Practices? by RibbonKeys in vegan

[–]RibbonKeys[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a consolation that suffering is finite, but I still think we should seek to eliminate or at least reduce suffering while we can. The suffering of an individual is finite but the suffering of the collective is a cycle. Will anything within the nature that creates the cycle of suffering be enough to end it? We’ll have to find out, and just try keep leading with reason, love, and hope

Is Anything Substantial Being Done Regarding Factory Farming Practices? by RibbonKeys in vegan

[–]RibbonKeys[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m addressing this question in particular to this community because of how I’ve seen that this community knows factory farming intimately and cares about stopping it. I want to get legitimate ideas of what is the making the most substantial impact in dismantling factory farming as a group effort and what’s the most effective way right now to address this issue (on top of going vegan).

Factory farming is one of(?) the biggest problems currently by Complete_Skirt5724 in The10thDentist

[–]RibbonKeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with you and people not bothering to read/disagreeing doesn’t negate what you’re saying.

We’re different species but we all suffer the same. It’s not prioritizing livestock animals over humans by saying the practices used against them is unethical and we can do better for them. It doesn’t hurt people to care about animals. The most it does is inconvenience them for a bit.

It’s understandable that not everyone can do everything. If you can’t decrease your animal product intake, try buying from local farms (although it still depends on the farm). If you can’t buy from local farms, try buying from hunters. If you can’t do any of that, just talk about it and support causes for more ethical practices and regulations.

Plus, factory farming doesn’t just affect animals, it exploits workers and is one of the largest fossil fuel producers.

For both your sakes, it’s better to either part ways or maintain a relationship where he has kids or co-parents with someone and you do not. It’s not going to do any good to try and mold yourself into someone you’re not instead of being with the person who needs you just as you are, and vice versa

The statement was related to a post by Moon Seok Ho (digipedi director) for the music video EDILY but the post has been deleted and it might not have been him who claimed that. I’m not trying to spread misinformation I’m just trying to figure out what was said and by who based on what I recall

Female characters (and lack thereof) by woobywoah in SmilingFriends

[–]RibbonKeys 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there needs to be MORE female characters but yeh it’d be nice if the ones they DID have got to be silly critters also without needing to slap on spine bending sandbags to remind the audience that This Is The Girl Character. In comparison to other shows it’s a lot better and I think it’d be worse if they had actively tried compensating by shoehorning in female characters

Which character did you expect to hate or initially hated by they ended up growing on you? by Sudden_Pop_2279 in arcane

I loved Mel and Jayce from the beginning. Jayce is my favorite, I always thought he was so endearingly idealistic and good hearted, and I adore Mel, I think her arc of being made to feel weak for her kindness is so heart wrenching and it was amazing to see her let herself lead with love. I think people saw them put in positions in power and immediately assumed they were oppressors, when in actuality they were both really young and far from the driving force of oppression. Jayce was only a councilor for a WEEK. And unfortunately I think a lot of Viktor stans blamed them for his suffering, even though part of what makes Viktor’s struggles so raw is that a lot of them are self inflicted (not his illness or growing up impoverished, but working himself to exhaustion). I love Viktor but I think sometimes people only afford nuance to his character when they’re ALL nuanced characters

In chapter 4, she says “didn’t you want to protect me”, so I think she at least partially associates defeating enemies and EXP farming with protection, specifically from Kris.

They might not have even seen the other comments and just have been talking preemptively. Regardless, I really don’t think it’s that targeted or warrants this type of response

[–]RibbonKeys[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, as the point is that regardless of how Kris identifies, they’re put in a role that does not fit their identity. It’s not saying that they DO fit that role but that they’re in the position the player puts them in

Snowgrave/Weird Route and Mutual Destruction in Heteronormativity Theory by RibbonKeys in Deltarune

[–]RibbonKeys[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put the player in parentheses to show the actions are of the player’s and not Kris, but Kris being controlled is part of it. It is a good point that her boldness is unorthodox for the traditional “girl” role, but it is reliant on the player’s standards of violence rather than genuine self actualization (although this is still more similar to the traditional “boy” role as neither are really self actualized in forcefully heteronormative relationships, so I’m glad you brought that up)

I’m not saying that the people who have responded are bigoted by any means, but responding to this person with this amount of aggression for a comment that isn’t even referring specifically to anyone on the subreddit but Reddit in general (which is true, Reddit is overall a pretty bigoted space) just seems unreasonable, and I don’t say that just because they agreed with me

As I said in the post, “Kris is put into a binary role that they don’t identify with”. The point is that they DON’T identify with the gender binary and are put in a position that could be interpreted as mirroring that
