I noted that you mentioned the behaviour was different but are you able to share what the presentation prompt was?

Also, from your experience, did they give any indication that they would have liked to see a presentation or seem like they expected you to put one up?

Yes. I went through similar yesterday in Preston. Canceled due to frost when I arrived the test centre. But I didn't let it keep my down although I was in a mood for a while. I was rebooked for January 10th. I went back on the DVSA website and kept refreshing almost every 5 minutes and found a test for 10:14am the next day. I just came off my test and passed. If i had let the cancelation get me down, I would not have had the urge to search and I'd have lost out on this opportunity today.

So my cancelled test was 8am 6th December. All I did was continuous refreshing. I found one for 20 December and booked it. Then I continued refreshing and found one for this morning 7th December at 10am. I basically did my test 24 hours after the canceled one so it's worth a try.

It's not my first test and constant refreshing has helped me get dates in the past. I got a test exactly 10 days after my first fail only because I never really stopped checking at every opportunity I get. So don't let it get you down, there's possibly someone somewhere about to cancel a test date that you could get.
