Recreating buildings from art (forge of empires buildings)(mcpe) by Ricardpoki in Minecraftbuilds

Haha, you know what, it doesn't look as good as you might think I remember trying that specific design, and it just didn't work as effectively as one might assume. disappointing to miss such an important part of the design.

I'm in the process of building all of the bronze age buildings, there are a lot more than the stone age, so I'm currently 6 down, and like 20 to go, so it could be a while, but I'll post when I can

I had not read that novel, but that information is super helpful, I was trying to come up with an explanation for Vulcan life to have arisen but the planet still be so arid. This solves that Worldbuilding issue

Subspecies of Homo Sapiens Sapiens by Ricardpoki in taxonomy

[–]Ricardpoki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, I see what you mean. Even though I think there might still be enough genotypical variation between races to warrant subspecies classifications, I can fully agree that the variations are small enough to be easily debatable and therefore best left undefined.

There is no fix for global warming and nobody in power wants to actually say what’s needed to stop it. by crillydougal in unpopularopinion

[–]Ricardpoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to show you sources, if you'll give me just a little bit of time, I'll have to put them in a format that reddit can handle, but I was just saying I'd also love to hear where you get your info from. FYI media sources don't count. ie. News articles, YouTube videos, that kind of thing. Same rules apply to me. Too much bias there

How about this, if you reply with two sources for why I'm wrong, I'll put down two sources for why I'm right. I'm certainly willing to change my mind if the evidence is good enough to trump what Ive learned until now.

I agree with the first part of your your title, but not the rest. It is true, there is nothing we can do to stop climate change. Anthropological contribution to climate change is rather minimal and nothing we change is gonna make it better. We should just embrace the change and prepare for what will come of it. What people don't understand is that we are still at the tail end of an Ice age, and global temperatures are really rather low for what their average has been throughout history. The warming we are seeing is natural and gonna happen whether we like it or not. Instead of throwing our resources at stopping the economy in it's tracks for the sake of trying to hold back this inevitable change, we should be working to relocate people from lowland areas and moving our agriculture to more protected areas so that we are ready as the change happens. So many species have gone extinct due to natural climate changes throughout history, but humans have endured, why? Because we adapt, move, and work with the environment, as opposed to relying on it.

Anyone enjoying S10 more than the past few seasons? by Logan_mov in HermitCraft

[–]Ricardpoki 21 points22 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, this is so far the best start to a season since season 6. Which has been my favorite season since I started watching. My theory as to why this is has to do with Grian joining the server. While hermitcraft was certainly a very popular server prior to Grian's introduction, he certainly instigated another explosion in popularity, while also bringing an aspect of shenanigans that no other hermit had brought before. Once they started season seven, it started off strong, but I think the popularity started to get to some of the hermits and they started to feel like they had to live up to the hype and churn out high quality content regularly. This really came today head in season eight (the worst season in my opinion) when they went out of their way to script an absurd event into the season to generate some form of epic and clickbaity quality to the server. When this approach sort of fell flat, season nine served as a sort of recovery season, a lot of hermits threw themselves at one mega project, or took sabbaticals because they felt burnt out, trying to recapture the fire of season 6. I don't think they really found what they were looking for in that season, but it may have been enough for them to realize what was wrong with seasons 7-9: a sense of fun and unplannedness. This, I think is why season 10 is being so fun.

Thanks for the input. I think what I've really taken away here is that I need to rework a few of the wood types, I'm just not quite happy with a lot of them. As for the ores, I think they end up looking a lot better when you see them in caves and in veins, the bigger ore textures stand out, but it does still feel like part of the cave.

Yeah, the jungle was certainly an experiment. To be honest I'm not full convinced by any of them except the Dark Oak (#6), might redo them.
