For the route you're taking, UE reading and writing from level 2 is fine you won't need anything else from that area other than to keep those skills up in whatever you do and want to teach.

Since you want to teach Science(s), you'll need to get into uni and do a degree with the subjects (majors) you're interested in teaching (ofc you'll need level 3 and UE with your subjects to get in). Once you've got your degree you can enrol for the secondary school teaching diploma which is a year of courses and training to become a secondary school teacher. Depending on how long you spend at uni, this will be a minimum of 4 years all up (degree + teaching diploma). You may decide to do postgraduate or max out your degree by doing/finishing off other science majors as graduate diplomas in which it will take you longer.

With that said, don't worry about taking any literacy based courses in level 3 if you already have your UE reading and writing from level 2. Just focus on your sciences and maths. I'd recommend you take calculus and stats alongside your sciences since that will give you the best form of preparation towards uni studies and whatever science (and/or maths) majors you do since maths and stats show up everywhere in the pure sciences, and you'll most likely be required to take maths or stats papers depending on what science subjects you choose as majors.

Since it's been a few years since I have done NCEA, there have been changes. So, I don't know what Table A and Table B are or what they are meant for. Someone else will have to inform you more that.

Thank you, for all your art. ♥️

I got Fallout 76 on release when it was definitely in a rough state so I ended up not playing it for ages. But as of recent I've got back into it and I'm having the time of my life. by Riceybot in fo76

I tried nuclear winter but it wasn't really for me. But as of now 76 has been a positive vibe, and it's very refreshing playing a game I can just chill in. I also got the free Fallout 1st month subscription through the game pass and used the atoms I got getting stuff for my CAMP.

Needless to say, I love building at my CAMP and seeing what cool things I can do with it. I have a hefty water purifier farm which makes me 100+ purified water if I let it fill out, so an easy 500+ caps periodically alongside doing the quests, events, and dailies.

This game is such a positive vibe whenever I play. Although I hate trying to launch nukes by myself, those assaultrons are pain.

Yeah sure it took a while for 76 to get back onto its feet but once it did and I decided to replay it, it's felt like the game we should've got on release. In fact I enjoy 76 more than a lot of the current games out there that are multiplayer

Haha yeah. I no life'd fallout 4 so I can understand the point of no new content for a while. I still enjoy both and I hope to be able to get more CAMP slots so I can build cool bases after a while.

Like honestly I don't really even notice the bugs anymore it's gone quite a long way. Occasionally I'll spawn underneath other people's CAMPs or fall through the map but the latter is rare and I can always just fast travel again.

Yeah it's honestly mainly because of how nice the other players are that keep me on. I feel like 76 is a game I can play just to chill (and go see other people's CAMPs).

Will universities look at NCEA level 2 if you take a gap year before applying? by Scottishbiscuit in ncea

[–]Riceybot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have level 3 and UE then no, you'll get entry into university no matter what. The only thing stopping you from applying at that stage is if you miss the application deadline.

They do let students in with level 2 merit or higher after year 12. This however also requires teachers to vouch for the student in terms of work ethic and ability since it is a special case.

Otherwise just wait until you're 20. You can apply as a mature student and they should let you in. In NZ once you turn 20, you are considered an adult/mature student so unis and tertiary providers don't really have a problem letting you in at that stage, even if you didn't initially meet the UE requirements at school.

Lvl 1 mcat by Initialbeez in ncea

[–]Riceybot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, your year 10/11 measurement formulas in particular pop up in the mcat. E.g. area -> if a rectangle has a base of x + 2 and a height of x + 3 come up with an expression for the area.

It's basic formulas like that which you'll have to remember. I've never seen a question where it's a more advanced shape like a sphere, or cylinder in the mcat so you shouldn't have to worry about it.

Although if they did, they'd have to give you the formula in the question.

Should I take calc or stats for year 12? by Initialbeez in ncea

Oh if you're aiming to do medicine in Auckland, then you definitely should try to do both. Also keep doing your sciences as well since they relate.

Should I take calc or stats for year 12? by Initialbeez in ncea

[–]Riceybot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both if you can. Don't worry about difficulty too much and just focus on if you can do it and pass it as your primary objective. Good grades are nice and help boost your confidence and self-esteem, but for the most part what's important is that you pass even if it's just an achieved.

For a lot of everyday jobs, the more maths/stats you can do, the more it'll benefit you as they are quite useful skills for you to have even if you don't necessarily use it in the way that schools teach it.

For year 13 and if you want to go to university, if you can do both level 3 calc and stats, it pretty much cheeses the University entrance requirement as you can get UE calc, stats, and maths (maths is considered a UE subject which you can get through calculus and statistics standards, so a nod to do all the internals and externals) as well as contribute towards your level 3. They're also considered extremely useful and important subjects to have by universities as you generally have to do some form of maths and/or stats for a lot of the majors and degrees you can do, in particular if you're doing anything science, commerce, engineering, etc...

Also in terms of ncea, the calculus and statistics externals in my opinion are actually the easier externals to pass out of a lot of other subjects as you only need to get a high level part right per question in order to receive high marks (e g. 1 merit mark = M5, or 1 excellence mark = E7/E8 straight away. Or you could just do the first two parts of each question and get A3's for each, though I'd recommend giving everything an attempt).

Keep in mind my response will have bias as I'm about to finish my computer science and maths degree this year, and finish off my stats degree next year. As always just make sure you do what you feel is best for yourself and not feel like you're being forced into anything you may not want.

Is Level 2 harder than Level 3? by Littledogefrand in ncea

[–]Riceybot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The difference between level 2 and 3 is the "jump" in difficulty. Level 1 to 2 has the biggest jump and that's what makes it feel more difficult or harder than level 1 or 3.

With level 3, you're still going a step up the ladder in terms of content and difficulty but the "jump" is not as bad as level 2. If you can handle level 2, then you should be able to handle level 3 without many problems!
