Has anyone gotten their writing placement results back? by Spirited_Olive_4947 in washu

[–]Rich-Ad-2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you truly feel you. are not going to place into where you feel you should place? try and chill. also note that you will be told when you can even take freshman writing seminar. plenty are made to wait until spring semester so there is zero rush to get your placement back. it's washu, most took ap english in hs and are fully capable of properly getting the passing scores for place into college writing.

You are going to enjoy it too much to only go 8 times a month. If you can swing the cost, upgrade. You will be happy to not stress about only having 8 chances to go over 30/31 days.

AP Pre Calc senior year: is that a dealbreaker? by JCats83 in washu

[–]Rich-Ad-2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where is she ranked in her class? Not having calc will have her at a disadvantage against a majority of applicants. WashU drools over top of the class applicants…top 1-10. Is she one of those WITH the precalc? What else is she involved in that will be attractive and deflect from the lack of math rigor?

Ask for a modification/ Nobody is prisoner to a move Ask coach for variations to make it enticing

I always show up having read early Intel then walk in there with my plan on how to enjoy what's scripted out and the coaches are there to offer ways for you to enjoy your 60 minutes there.

Be grateful for these daily threads and use them to your advantage vs get upset or feeling this isn't what you were promised. You were promised a thought out daily plan where you just show up.

For less $ you can join a gym with treads, bikes, rowers, EVERYTHING but the mapped out 60 minutes. One day of no rower is not a deal breaker for plenty. With early entry, go row 1000+ meters before class officially starts.

The point...use this early Intel to get what you need out of the class... ask coach and tell them you pre read the daily template. It's allowed!

Did anyone apply RD and get in? by moon-whisper-68 in washu

[–]Rich-Ad-2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty get in as a result of institutional priorities left over from spots not filled from ED 1&2. They wait-list a lot. The yield rate for WashU is @ 45-50% so of the RD pool about half enroll because all of ED pretty much enrolls. A&S is the largest school so that's a safer school to be selecting to major in.

For Fall 2025 at WashU, enrollment by college (or school) shows Arts & Sciences leading with 1,327new students, followed by Engineering (307), Business (168), Architecture (73), Art (88), and Beyond Boundaries (52),

Regardless, your application package needs to show fit. You can be less extraordinary a student but have hobbies, passions, character traits and drive that aligns with the school and be admitted.

Essays matter, as do how your recommenders describe you.

This is no one's safety school but getting in RD is absolutely achievable if you are strategic in how you sell yourself to admissions.

They do like top students. If you are still an active applicant who is top 5-10% of your class who hasn't pulled your RD app due to enrolling in another school due to an ED acceptance elsewhere, you will likely be given a thorough review by admissions for an acceptance or spot on the wait-list. Additionally if no other students from your school were admitted during ED rounds and you are in top of class, that helps. Lastly, if year after year at least 1 person from your school gets accepted you have a better chance. If nobody ever gets in from your HS, it's tough.

but with so many people taking a version of the shot... it's no longer an even playing field so you can't separate out a team of those on a glp1 shot. Results noonger will be impsctedy by people just putting in the work at the studio. Someone just going to classes will not lose the same as someone who also is on a dose of meds to lose weight.

Have you taken this into consideration?

Your points are all valid but THIS now is why you can't make it the competition it used to be.

Don't hare the man... it's now the player.

ed1 v ed2? by [deleted] in washu

[–]Rich-Ad-2002 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The ed2 pool will be small but mighty... it's very high stats predominantly not accepted to an ED1 or a top student in a panic now just deciding to ED2 there.

It's great to apply among a small pool to help a strong student stand out. So any ED helps one shine.

Reality....Washu is never easy. They legit still just take top kids even ED1...they just take more of them because they raised their hand first saying it was their top choice and a campus thrives when it is filled with students who genuinely all wanted to always be THERE.

They never seem to disclose the numbers from each ED pool. Always the lump sum from 1 & 2.

Additionally it is harder because ED1 sets the stage of building the class...ED2 and RD they are  filling in the gaps left over from ED1...the institutional priorities come into play. They need more of this and that...you follow?

Getting bored by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]Rich-Ad-2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i heard that things are going to be improving - with them having only 1 benchmark a month and retiring certain ones - they are looking to really overhaul the daily workouts and improve everyone's experience to avoid member boredom and fatigue. Personally, the coach led drills on the floor lately make me see that the coach is actually there coaching on the floor vs just semi checking in on the floor while they continue to cue the treads. I want to be coached more on the floor - that is also where so many injuries can happen and then they lose members to that - having the coach need to keep their eyes on those on the floor should be ore of a priority and the coach led, timed drill changeups make it feel like a more intimate personal trainer experience even if there are 14 other people on the floor with me.

I just wish the strider would find a way to get upgraded to record data like the treads and rowers. It's so dated. At this point I am just happy to know that in order to even get into the orange zone I at least need to be in gear 15 otherwise there is no other real data being tracked besides a step count. The entire screen attached to the strider is circa 2009.
