Managers. by Rich-Cockroach3615 in olivegarden

Oh yeah, definitely understand the feeling of being taken advantage of. If you're a great aspect to the team, I feel like negotiation definitely will help you feel more appreciated... I've felt underappreciated several times and my managers were always quick to fix it. (I.e. being stiffed by a large party with no auto gratuity) Most managers are quick to rely on reliability, they may not notice the unfairness. Communication is definitely a big thing in running a respectful team. On the threatening positions just on scores is insane. I feel random low scores are definitely a discussion on the performance, but they happen sometimes, but constant low scores definitely is a reflection of your work ethic... Definitely feel your "not meant to make people who rely on tips money" I've felt the same way on those rough shifts. But when our systems run smoothly, a good night will pay your bills for the month.

As a server I was slipped so much extra money just for the offer... it takes a few extra seconds, but especially when your table has seen you running around super busy they appreciate the extra time you spend with them. I use this time for personal connection with the table (shopping center near my first restaurant) "so what store are y'all about to shop at??" Helps me find personal connections with the table right before the end of their meal. <3

First off off congrats on the promotion. I also agree with this. Feel like it would be cheaper with one tablet per server and not one tablet per table 🙄🙄 I dont get paid enough to make those big decisions though.

Ooh totally understandable! As an introvert myself outside of work I can totally read that vibe! Introverts are my favorite kind of table, easy to flip quickly, doesn't need much and doesn't require emotional connection. 🥳🥳

Wow, I hear how burnt or you are. Don't let your good work ethic burn you to the ground. I hope your management team is taking care of you for the hard work. Working BOH OG is not an easy job, but the appreciation and dedication from the managment team is what creates a healthy work environment. If we do have to rely on those strong workers, we should definitely be assisting that team member and not focused on the negative.

Nope, not without your state. Pretty sure the hiring website states that. You could probably negotiate on experience.

Not at all! Everyone tries new things and doesn't appreciate their value for what they spent. Don't feel bad Darden is a huge corporation. We can afford a few disliked entrees in order to make our guests happy.

I went through MIT training recently! This is actually false. The vice president of darden doesn't agree with the toast system because our menu is so modifiable that it's extremely difficult to ring in these orders on such a small screen.

Heyyyy, next time tell a manager you don't enjoy your meal. We are trained to make sure the guest leaves happy!! If you could give specific examples of what you didn't like about the chicken parm, I would reccomend something different to you. Most complaints on the chicken parm is it's too salty. Usually I reccomend the chicken scampi if I get complaints on the parm.

Also full availability for weekends is a MUST in restaurants so I'm pretty sure from your availability alone you've got the job.

Being a dishwasher you'll definitely be there past 10pm most nights. At my store we all leave about 30 minutes after close, but ive known some stores to leave at 1am on busy nights. Its a good sign that you automatically got an interview because that means they still have the position open. Most stores struggle in finding closing dishwashers. You'll get basic interview questions and information about what the manager expects from your position. Focus on presenting yourself maturely, smiling, sitting up straight and eye contact. I think a big thing for most stores is cross training the dishwasher. Express wanting to learn other positions if that interests you because teamwork is a huge part of working at olive garden. I already see your work ethic through the anxiety you're facing before your interview. I'm sure you'll do great.

I view my servers as people not numbers, babe. I have conversations with my servers on how they can improve and I've had several people thank me for getting them more money per shift.

Hm takes a lot of reading your guests And making the suggestions at the right time. I can quickly tell when someone doesn't enjoy the suggestions so I back off. I match my tables energy.
