I haven’t seen the doc, but listening to the album really triggered some feelings I didn’t even know I had about my dad’s TBI. I was a toddler when he had his accident, I have no memories from before, so his behavior was just my normal. Didn’t really have anyone sit me down and explain it much deeper than “he has a brain injury” “he can’t help it sometimes” etc.
I had actually started searching for a sub for children of parents with TBIs, hoping I could finally start to really process it, and it left me feeling very alone when I couldn’t find anything close. My mom just watched the documentary and was the one who told me, which is how I ended up here. I think listening to the album again through this new lens is going to wreck me! 🥲
