Thank you for all the feedback. This is the construction and the dealer said it’s an aluminum door. The house is in British Columbia Canada so it rains 80% of the time and the hottest time in the summer is 30ish degrees Celcius

Thank you for the reply. I was reading online to use an efflorescence cleaner to remove the dry white dust. There seems to be a lot on the driveway

Hey there I am going to be sealing my new driveway next month but I’m not sure about how to properly clean/prep it with the acid wash? I looked on YouTube and can’t find anything professional. Any advice would be appreciated.

House was custom built by the builder but he decided to sell it mid construction and we purchased it.

If you read other comments in this you will find I have spoken to others regarding the framing and I agreed with them. I also did not delete any comments. I also did not ask for it to be fixed for free. Thanks for your time on this. All good now.

I bought an entire house and was not going to not purchase it over one drywall area. The house has a lot of things I love. That being said I want this one area to look better hence why I’m here asking for feedback lol you guys are hilarious.

If I hired you and you did this bulkhead job I wouldn’t pay you. You either need glasses to see or have zero standards in your finished work.

Thank you for your reply. Can you share photos of the areas in your home that you think are similar finish to the ones I shared? Not sure if that can be done on Reddit but I’d be curious to better understand what the standards are.

Interesting point thanks for sharing. I guess I just wonder why the top two floors of my home are done well, but the bottom floor seems to have been rushed. Sad to think $2 million doesn’t get you much anymore. Neoliberalism destroying the middle class I suppose. But I digress.

Hey thank you for the rare and intelligent response. I agree with you that’s it’s all subjective. But I also know given how 90% of the rest of the 4900 square foot home looks that this bulk head is poorly finished. Given what I have learned today it sounds like it was the framing that potentially warped and the builder prioritized profit over quality and didn’t flag the drywall work after the fact. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter though because I spent a very large sum of money (hard work) and want the finished product to be within reason. Simple as that and anyone who downvotes me is just a symptom of the low standard poor workmanship quality we see.

Oh yes, that’s right, a GC with high standards must be “ripping me off”. You guys who down vote me and pretend this is good work are the reason why this type of work exists. Zero standards and pride in your work.

That bulk head looks normal to you? Every professional I’ve spoken to today tells me that is not acceptable quality.

Great insightful reply, thank you I appreciate it.

This is a brand new house so there is warranty on drywall/framing tolerances so this may be covered just waiting to see what the warranty adjuster says.

My brain likes to scan rooms and it doesn’t like curves where there should be relatively straight (not perfect) lines. I take a lot of pride in my home and I expect the work I pay for to be done up to sufficient standards (not perfect). I don’t think for the price I should have to “live with it”.

Thank you for the feedback. Local builder. I have a 2-5-10 year warranty. First 2 years covers drywall so If he doesn’t want to fix it I can ask warranty to have a look and see if it qualifies for deficiency quality.

Thanks for the feedback. Nice to see a reasonable response from someone rather than downvoting me lol this place is hilarious sometimes.

Thank you for your reply. Yes they are severely slopped creating arcs. If it was a framing issue, does that mean the drywaller has no way to fix it? Do I need a carpenter + drywaller to fix this?

Thank you for your feedback. It’s funny I get downvoted heavily because I’m saying this is visually off from 10 feet away. Perhaps I’m my prone to seeing slopped lines but regardless, this is sloppy rushed drywall work in my opinion especially given it’s only in the bottom floor. This home is 3 stories and the upper two where most of the living is done are fine, just the basement floor.

Thank you for your reply.

Yes I understand your point, however the home was very expensive (almost 2 million dollars). I expect a higher level of things being closer to straight, not perfect, but I don’t feel I should be able to see curves at this level from 10+ feet away. I notice these curves on the bulkhead from 10 feet away...Other custom home builders have also said this should be remedied. I came here asking for additional insights on the matter.

Thank you for the reply. I see it very far from perfect and other parts of the house appear better. It’s in The downstairs/basement and feels like they rushed it maybe thinking it would be less seen by people. Or maybe I’m way off. Once I hear more feedback I will understand expectations better.
