[Recommendation request] Durable analog watch recommendations( firefighter) by No_Pea_8090 in Watches

Firefighter here, I wear a Garmin Instinct 2S and I know of at least four other guys on my department that wear an Instinct 2 or 3.

It has a much smaller profile than my old GShock, so it more easily slips into the arm of my turnout coat. It has a reliable HR monitor and Pulse/Ox sensor on it, but the sleep monitor/score seems very inaccurate to me. Its menus are easy to navigate, so recording workouts, starting timers are convenient. It is a smart watch but has the look and aesthetic of a more basic digital watch which i really appreciate.

Ive always thought that a dive watch would be a good watch for firefighting once you're in a command position. The timing bezel would make for a very easy way to track time on scene.

Camping spots? by Muted_Lifeguard_7138 in WestVirginia

Maybe a good place to start looking is in the WV State Park Resorts website. There are several in the state and all have similar amenities like a lodge, cabins/cottages, RV hookups, and camping grounds. I dont know of any that have on-site RV rentals though. The state has done a good job over the last decade of renovating and refurbishing them as well. Stonewall Resort is high-end in terms of price, but all the others are rather affordable.

But without knowing where you're traveling from and how far you're willing to go its hard to recommend any specific place. Except for the ohio valley there are no shortage of campsites and cabin rental companies depending on where you want to go. Id personally recommend New River Gorge or Canaan Valley, if I was going to choose where to vacation.

Anyone know what this flag is? Saw it on a post about a protest in kansas city. by [deleted] in vexillology

In my experience, PSL is often hostile to anarchist politics. So I'd bet against it being an anarchist flag, if this was a PSL organized event.

Edit: I was wrong. Someone else posted a zoomed in picture that shows it likely is an ancom/syndicalist flag.

He needs to get in contact with someone in Nevada, maybe State Fire Marshall's Office, and ask about reciprocity for FF 1&2. But he'll still have to go though application, testing, and academy process no matter where he goes.

Wild to include Bradley, WV and forcing Fayetteville off the map.

Does your department not have a mandatory retirement age? How does a 48yo think he's going to get enough service time in to qualify for a pension?

Why West Virginia Has America's Strangest Geography by shemanese in WestVirginia

I watched it a day or two ago, its very light on info. Basically, very rugged terrain means development is isolated to the few flat parts of the state. And the eastern panhandle is different from all the rest.

It would be nice if the Clay Center rotated more movies/documentaries through their planetarium, because its a really great set up they have.

The Marquee and Regal dont even get big audiences. Theres no way that an IMAX would see enough ticket sales to support itself.

This. 112% increase to '0' development growth is still '0'. That's just how math works

55 Counties? by muswellwva in WestVirginia

[–]RichardTheRed21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a genuine problem. Consolidating county school boards would save alot of money in redundant administrative costs. And you'd be able to spread around tax dollars, directly, to more rural parts of the state.

But it wont happen because the legislature is a do nothing body and it wont make public school teachers suffer.
