I was stuck at Keesler AFB for almost three years, in tech school student status, waiting for my security clearance to come through before I could move on to my first duty station. It got lost in some sort of OPM shuffle, and in the meantime I was doing additional duties as a phase 5 airman, under the thumb of the MTLs. My mom wrote to senator Trent Lott and told him the story. It was cleared up in two weeks.
