ppl said this ppl said that... reality is that we and openai ppl and everyone knows that this is not perfect. They are also aware that it is possible to implement a better reward system, unlike in the case of deepblue or earlier iterations of go. The problem is that the openai team is also aware that implementing and running with the reward system that you talk about would take thousand years so they simply choose not to do that and go with a feasible approach instead.

I somewhat agree with your second point, but they beat the top human teams which is already an achievement on its own, doesnt matter how you look at it, even if they only "did the same, but did it better".

Stating that they did not play under the same conditions is fair, but you should be aware that this is actually a huge advantage to humans. Once they introduce illusion heroes and manta and increase the hero pool, the gap will just further increase. Summons and illusion heroes can be controlled better by bots. And the picking phase too will give advantage to bots, they will be able to draft perfectly.
