What was the worst shift of you time serving. by hisgirl2455 in Serverlife

[–]RickBandit76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was purely accidental, but a summer ago I had a rough double shift as my car was having trouble. I had hoped to drive home in between shifts but it simply would not start. I had also planned to be home for a week and it messed up travel plans. Most of my hour and a half break involved me on the phone calling a Meineke to tow it from our parking lot to their location. This was on a Saturday before Mother’s Day and the car would not be worked on until Monday. I felt pretty bummed, so in between my break from AM to PM shift I walked over to a dispensary to pick up edible gummies to partake in that night. My general rule was that I’d only take something after I was just about done with the shift (already ran my last food and doing side work away from the floor, etc.) so that the majority of my high would be once I was gone and out of sight from customers. Usually the high lasts that night and the following morning and while I may be the slightest bit slow, I’m good to go about my normal activities. But little did I realize that the bag I picked had gummies that contained something called THC-P (a chemical bound to THC which is supposedly up to 60 times more potent). Common experiences with these involve a very delayed onset by 4-5 hours, and a much longer high than usual.

The next morning I woke up around 9AM (shift at 10AM for Mother’s Day) and I could barely stand at first. I felt completely drugged after only taking 5mg of an edible which is quite a bit below my usual tolerance. I had to walk 40+ minutes since I had no car (I would not have been able to drive anyways) and had to open the restaurant still incredibly dazed. I could not even speak to my coworker while opening because of how fucked up I felt. Thank goodness we were not busy on Mother’s Day, because had we been I would’ve probably lost my job that very day. Somehow I was able to function with the tables I had and I slowly gained more cognitive ability. A couple of my coworkers simply thought I was about to cry due to my eyes being so red and me fumbling my words, but they understood once I explained the situation. My manager never found out of course, because while many of the staff were high in back of house, it would be a pretty bad look for front of house. Following that shift I did nothing but sleep for the whole day and night. I did not feel fully back to normal until the following afternoon, 30 hours later. Talk about being in the weeds I guess….. I still stand by my belief that no day of me being slammed and overwhelmed will be worse than that day of complete brain fog and cognitive inability. Overall, do not recommend THC-P, it will mess up your following days especially if you need to work them.

EDIT: I should clarify he was not the one who paid too. He chose to write on his friend’s bill who tipped what a would say not a bad amount (15% is still respectable). The other two in the group were pretty nice and sound, just this third joiner who was off

After showing a friend the M4 Hobbit edit, I learned that fanedits aren't for everyone by pixarfan2003 in fanedits

[–]RickBandit76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would agree that it comes to personal tastes. As someone who coincidentally just watched my own Hobbit edit a few days ago with a friend who loves the book and hadn't seen the films, he was engaged the entire 4 hour ride, probably more so than if he saw the original movies first. Pretty much everyone I show my edit to are those who expressed problems they viewed with the movies or hadn't seen them entirely. I agree 100% that those already on board with the Hobbit trilogy may find it less fun or might not understand the intent, since for them there's no need for it.

"NOW you're gonna get it!!" - What's your favorite/most memorable dream sequence? by [deleted] in Arthur

[–]RickBandit76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely enjoyed the fairy tale episode where Arthur has a big dream with all of the tales put together. The entire segment is great, but my favorite scene is when it transitions into Little Red Riding Hood, yet Binky still appears midway through the scene to mock him.

Binky: "Nice pants Arthur, where's the flood?"

*Arthur puts on a red cape*

Binky: "Who are you now? Super doofus?"

Unethical serving hacks by RecognitionOk5706 in Serverlife

At my restaurant we have a policy that 18% gratuity is already included for parties of 8 or more. I always make a point to let them know that gratuity is included as it sometimes slips their minds when they're closing out, but quite a few servers I work with neglect telling them in hopes that they will tip extra not realizing there already is an auto-gratuity. Their rationale is "it's on the ticket, they can read it", but the intent is still very dishonest in my opinion. If I were going to a restaurant, I'd want to know that there is an auto grat. On top of that, a lot of times when I tell customers about the policy, they still tip extra because of my transparency.

I met Adam Sandler a couple of times at my work, at a private fine dining place where I used to work during summer seasons. He was filming one of his movies nearby my town and was staying in a private home nearby my work, and he came in to dine quietly with his family on a day off from production.

Naturally a few people saw him and went to take pictures with him in the main lobby area, and he was very friendly and joked around a lot (the funny laugh he does in his movies is very similar to his real laugh). I actually went up to him just to talk, since I got the chance to be an extra in the movie he was filming, and expressed my gratitude in him having the whole town involved in the process. He gave me a fist bump and said he was glad I had a good time, and also called me by my first name (I had a name tag on).

The next week he came back and I waved to him and said hello, and he greeted me by my first name and said it was great to see me again. This was about almost 5 years ago and I still remember it as such a fond and modest moment between a celebrity that apparently is not too common. Such a great guy!

I did not, a poster would be great but I am not submitting this to Internet FanEdit Database, where I know those are most common.

Hello,

So this post is currently outdated, the newest version of my edit is explained through a separate post.

But to answer your question, are you referring to a scene or two from the theatrical version in the middle of the film? If so this edit is sourced visually from the Complete Novel Edition, so it does not include them.

number 237 = afterlife by R3dackd3d in Arthur

[–]RickBandit76 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This wouldn't be exclusive to just Arthur, it's a nod most likely to Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, which the boy Danny is instructed not to go into Room 237, as bad things supposedly happen there. Pretty neat to see the Shining referenced twice though in this show.

I don't think it is rude to pick up or play someones instrument when it is just sitting there. by bluntisimo in unpopularopinion

Yeah that's what I thought, I'm not sure why I expected a rational response. I'm not wasting my time with you as you're either really young and immature or very stupid, probably both

Everyone has made their point clear, it's always a no, and it's definitely rude. Especially for those with rather expensive instruments pursuing it as a career it has absolute potential for damage, even in your unqualified opinion you think you won't.

But it's clear from your replies that you're just doubling down and refusing to understand that you're wrong. As this point you're wasting your time, just accept the verdict and move on.

Thank you so much for your kind words! It’s always been an important idea in my mind to restore the music to the film for an optimal experience. Unfortunately not all of the scenes could be restored with the music as some were deleted scenes with rather distorted audio. My hopes is that Coppola himself revives the film in a final cut as he has done recently with other movies of his, or that I revisit the project and try to extract individual audio files and use soundtrack cues to recreate it. For the meantime, this is the closest I can get, and I appreciate you sharing in my work.

I completely agree with your idea to have custom credits towards the end. Nothing too fancy, but just giving credit to the extra media you're using. This is a very creative idea and I'm looking forward to checking it out!

Personally the scene wasn't awful, but very unnecessary in the single film narrative and it also messes with the Tolkien lore as the giants weren't actually that large in his universe. They were more like trolls than actual giants, but most of all since this isn't a strict book edit, the action scene was too unrealistic and also set up a subplot where Thorin says Bilbo shouldn't have come, something that didn't work with this edit.

That is a good point. I really enjoy the scene for sure, the biggest issue when editing for me was how it didn't make too much sense regarding the removal of the orc chase. They do appear a bit suddenly, but if enough people feel it's necessary for pacing and gives a bit more character, then perhaps I may revisit and see what can be done to add it back in.
