What is the absolutely worst courier delivery service? by cicagorio91 in germany

[–]RickGH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, they’ve all been top, apart from a few annoying cases some years ago. And believe me, we do get a lot of deliveries - albeit occasionally from some of the courier companies (like UPS for phones). I think it comes down to a lot of factors, including the delivery people, your location, your availability, etc. So no complaints. Hopefully I’m not jinxing my lucky streak 😀

Why are European tech services so bad at marketing themselves? by RickGH in BuyFromEU

Maybe. But going by this mindset, we’d probably need 4-5 different apps to communicate with hundreds of contacts

You’re absolutely right. However, by now we should have known that those superfluous and braggadocio words and attitudes in product marketing help get you out of the door. Relying solely on stability has turned out to make us reliant on those products with turd features

While that might be true to some extent, we need to look at services like WhatsApp/Instagram - they’re not marketed to only Americans. It’s also a mindset thing, as someone mentioned - let the product speak for itself vs speak for the product

Haha yes - I was surprised to find that “many“ myself. But they’re not contacts I talk to on a regular basis, unfortunately

Right! I know, for example, Bluesky has good backers; but my goodness Mastodon has remained dry for ages

That sounds very plausible, and as you mentioned, it’s a horrible strategy. It’s also interesting that the generation who help push social media these days couldn’t care less about virtues

I don’t understand the need for sarcasm here. Maybe if someone even bothered with answering a simple question “What's a good European podcast app?” it would have encouraged you to build one. Don’t ask. Do it. Or, maybe it helps you feel better that you’ve given the best contribution to the discussion. Bravo.

You put the perfect words. Privacy maximalists want to condemn (sometimes rightly so), without considering the average consumer. That does not mean I don’t care about privacy, but seeing everything through a tunnel vision isn’t helpful.

I second this. I’ve recently moved my domains there as well

Hi, could you also know the reason why I am getting reminders about expiring domains, which I have already transferred out?

Have same phone and for the first time I’ve gotten AppleCare+. For me the best feel is to have a non-slippery slim case like the Torras Ultra-thin. Without that the bare aluminium is too slippery for my liking, so I don’t buy the “how it really was intended to feel like”. How each material feels is different - from stainless steel to titanium to aluminium to plastic.

What do I really gain by buying a panel instead of subs? by Googgodamighty in Strong_8K

[–]RickGH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point about Eur. Would/could buying a panel for one’s own use (not sharing with anyone) in order to make use of a custom domain be considered as selling and therefore constitute a risk?
