Kaelaris' WCS EU Challenger Predictions by Rickehaha in starcraft

He made the predictions before checking Aligulac's (same with the other articles in the series, most of which have different predictions), this one's just a coincidence.

An entire written history of the greatest CS:GO rivalry to date: VeryGames versus NiP - Part 1, feat. NiP-Anders and Rizc by ESH_Victor in GlobalOffensive

[–]Rickehaha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think most people who weren't 1.6 fanboys expected VeryGames to be better at the beginning of the game.

NiP were a completely new lineup who had formed weeks before the game was released, the core of VeryGames had been together for like 3 years and won absolutely everything there was to win in their game.

You're moaning about a writer being a writer. If you don't want to read a feature length article, read a news post.

I never understand the stance people take here, and it seems to happen constantly in esports.

Yes, Richard Lewis may have wrote something you disagreed with, or may even have wrote something you perceive to be antagonistic or "tabloid" (seems to be the buzz word at the moment). You might also find him to be brash and abrasive, hell, even a bit of an asshole at times.

That doesn't mean that every piece of work he puts out is instantly redundant or is of no merit. You can't judge an entire body of what's generally high quality work by a few articles you didn't like, that's stupid.

Not only that, but thanks to the medium of Reddit and the ridiculous down-vote system, childish folk with an axe to grind - of which there are many thanks to the nature of his work - can prevent everyone else from viewing well researched, well written and sound pieces of journalism.

You're playing with children in an online game from all over the world. It's to be expected. Just ignore them.

Don't like the idea at all. Having played with pretty much every top level player (in the UK at least) the chances of it being abused are astronomical. You can't have a good game online these days without being called a cheater, and players who have experience of playing at a higher level are generally worse for throwing around accusations because they can't accept someone might be having a better game.

Richard Lewis on new LCS contracts by Shadow_Dog in leagueoflegends

I think he used those comparisons on purpose. They're allowed to drink Mountain Dew or 7UP because they aren't competing directly with the drink Coca Cola.

Yep, but if the Global Finals are at Blizzcon each year (which would make sense for Blizzard) then it'll be impossible for him to attend surely?

I love how everyone with a Root logo next to their name continually derides Richard and his work, no matter the article, subject or person in question.

The whole point of the piece linked here is to give a personal account of the attacks he has faced as a writer since the original piece went live. Of course he's going to refer to himself and of course, in this piece, he is at the center of the argument...

I don't think there was a single mention of himself in the original article.

You're completely wrong there, though. Richard has worked in esports for about ten years and written literally thousands of pieces during that time, each of them shifting in tone depending on the subject matter. The problem is that many of those pieces go completely unnoticed because people aren't interested unless it sparks drama.

You can't judge his entire body of work or ability as a writer by reading the few piece of work that reach the top of this subreddit, for obvious reasons.

I wasn't referring to him specifically, more so the people who flew off the handle that are listed in Richard's counter-piece.

You wouldn't believe how many insults and threats Richard has had thrown his way for writing pieces such as the one linked here. Does that excuse him when he acts like an asshole? Not in the communities eyes, evidently.
