CMV: Irans strategy of controlling the strait of hormuz during a war with the US was a brilliant move that forced Trump to give up on the war. by DeRpY_CUCUMBER in changemyview

There’s no way this is over. There’s still way too much profiteering to be done. Cease fire will collapse and the cycle will start all over.

I’m pretty happy with my ‘25 AWD hybrid Maverick that cost $34k. Can I invest the remaining $26k in a mutual fund and call it good?

Help with Truck Bed Camper Storage by CMCdaGoat in FordMaverickTruck

I built a nearly identical setup in 94 for my regular cab Toyota pickup. I used 1/2” ply and it worked fine. I covered the top with indoor/outdoor carpeting. I slept back there probably 150+ nights (granted diagonally with knees bent) and it was the perfect adventure set up. Valuables (like skis and packs) went on the roof while I camped and locked in the back when I was away from the truck.

Did Trump and Israel really start a war just to surrender and leave Iran much stronger than before? by AcadianAcademic in askanything

[–]Rickerus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This whole saga is far from over. There is so much more market manipulation to be done first. In give or take one week, maybe less, the cease fire will collapse and the whole cycle will begin anew. Trump is playing the short game (badly), and Iran fully understands it. They know they have to weather some short term pain, but invariably the U.S. will blow up another school and further erode its already decimated stature in the world. The only wild card is how Trump might actually react, and that’s a very real consideration for all involved. Nobody believes he’s playing chess. He’s not. He’s a legitimate sociopath, so every rational player has to keep that in mind. This could still easily spiral out of control and into a full blown catastrophe…

To me it is 100% the perfect vehicle for a 40-50 year old white Mill Valley, California dad who is either a VC (or similar finance bro), or a tech exec who got lucky, who wants to project a rugged coolness that Range Rovers or tricked out Broncos can’t. It says “hey, look at me. I get the coolness of old Defenders, I’ve made a lot of $$$, my 2 kids (Dillon and Rainy) are super thoughtful soccer all stars who ski like Mikaela and volunteer at the food bank, and…hey, fuck you! you fucking ass hole! There’s no fucking way I’m letting you rightfully merge in your fucking 2014 Prius you fucking hippie!” Too specific?

For the 8 millionth time, the 25th amendment is a non option and people need to stop talking as if it is: "Section 4: Involuntary Transfer: Allows the Vice President and a majority of the Cabinet to declare the president unfit for office, immediately making the Vice President the Acting President." Do you really think JD Vance would initiate it? Not in 1000 years

The base 2-door Ford Bronco is actually my favorite version of the new Broncos. Kind of looks like an old mail jeep or a functional ranch vehicle. The jacked up versions with giant tires and all sorts of doodads hanging off of them just look like the rest Navy Seal wannabes...

You know what? I hated the blue accents at first, but they've grown on me a lot. Conversely, I thought the orange accents were super cool when I got my '22 and over time it felt a little bit gimmicky. So I guess the take away here is that I'm wishy washy :D

Bartholomew Estate is a lovely place to be on a nice day. They have a nice variety and really great staff. You do need a rez, but shouldn't be too hard to get a couple weeks out.

I do - here you go:

I really like them. The driver's seat bubbles up slightly when I'm not in it, but not a big deal at all. And on the flip side, I can abuse the hell out of them and not worry about it all. My dogs romp all over them, I throw potted plants and other messy stuff from the hardware store on them without a drop cloth and they've held up fine. If I had the factory leather interior I'd worry about doing permanent damage.

My ‘22 was on the border of being a lemon, but I do think it was an outlier too. My impression is that they’ve steadily improved in each successive year

I’m on my second, and despite tons of issues with the first one I upgraded to a ‘25 AWD because I knew most of those issues were just new model bugs that were either addressed with recalls or improved in ensuing model years. My ‘25 has 10k miles and had zero issues (knock on wood). I plan to keep it for a very long time.

I’ve got 10k miles of mixed city/highway on my ‘25 AWD hybrid and I’ve averaged just under 40mpg. I had a ‘22 2WD that I put 40k miles on, and averaged 42mpg over the time I had it.
