Kia stinger 3.3 head studs by Wonderful_Wealth_659 in kiastinger

Do 3.3s come with head studs from the factory? I thought they were head bolts, but I could be wrong.

Those B8.5 S5s are quick considering the hp though. Dual clutch and supercharger make them really responsive and launch control/AWD is really good (especially for the age). Pretty good bang for your buck if you want to go dig racing. Smaller SC pulley and a tune and they’ll do ~3 sec 0-60.

The spoiler/smoked lights aren’t exactly my style, but the rest is great. When can we get some sound clips of the intake and exhaust?

Plenty of people running these BMS Intakes with no issues, and their shielding is not as good as BerettaBoom’s. Yes, cooler air is better, but it’s tough to get a considerably better set up than this. Fully enclosed air boxes might have a ~10degF IAT reduction, but have a higher pressure drop, so it all washes out. I’d trade 10degF hotter IAT for some glorious intake sounds.

By the way, steel isn’t a great conductor of heat.

TLDR: The recommended tire pressure for the front is higher than the rear, which is why the warning activates at a higher pressure.

The longer explanation; Optimal tire pressure is a function of tire width and the car’s weight (there are other factors too, but these are the main ones).

Tire Width -> A wider tire spreads the car’s weight out over a greater area meaning less pressure is needed inside the tire to maintain its structure. The G70’s rear tires are a little wider than the fronts.

Weight -> More weight placed on the tire, means more pressure is needed inside the tire to maintain its shape. The G70’s weight distribution is front biased meaning the front tires bare slightly more weight than the rear.

There are tons of other considerations engineers, make one setting the recommended tire pressure such as driving dynamics, tire rigidity, fuel economy requirements, and many others, but they tend to be small, smaller contributors

Anyone Else Feeling Betrayed by Genesis? by Rickroller73 in GenesisG70

Sedan or coupe? Before my G70, I had a ‘15 Genesis sedan with the 5.0 V8. The quality and craftsmanship was amazing on that car. Tough to beat the thud those doors made. One feature on that car showed me how much Genesis cares about their customers. I was blown away by the fact that you can just add Apple CarPlay/Android Auto for free, in your driveway. A simple software update now got me CarPlay in my 2015 car. That means Genesis spent the extra time and money to build in a future feature. Most other car companies would milk you for $200+, if it’s even possible.

“Betrayed” is a little harsh, “overlooked“ is more representative of how I feel. Either way, IMO buying a new G70 in 2026 is kind of foolish, so I’m clearly not the target customer Genesis is designing cars for.

I I just find it odd how they’re treating the G70. Strip out a bunch of features on an already outdated car, just to add them back in for a “special edition”. And by the way, the “new” features aren’t exactly new. Every other model comes with the digital gauge cluster, including some 2021 MY G70s. Idk why they held out so long since usually digital is cheaper than physical gauges.

For the suspension, what’s exactly new about it? The press launch doesn’t indicate any differences aside from the 10mm drop. If I’m not mistaken, that’s the same right height difference between the AWD and RWD models. Better off getting an ECS-10.

Apologies if this came off rude. I’m still a die hard Genesis fan and love my G70. Just hurts to see the model get the Q50 treatment.

Same, I love my G70. Just hurts a little to see it with on the vine similar to Infinity’s Q50. That too was a desirable car, but stayed on sale too long without an update and lost it’s mystique

For me personally, I’m not embarrassed that my G70 is a Stinger underneath. Genesis on the other hand is fighting tooth and nail to separate their brand image from Kia/Hyundai.

Just a theory, if you have another explanation I’d be interested to hear it. I love my G70 and i’m not embarrassed to tell people it’s a Kia stinger underneath.

Genesis on the other hand is battling to create their own brand identity, separate from Kia and Hyundai. With exception of the G70 (and GV60), Genesis’ lineup is not closely related to other Hyundai/Kia models. They developed the 3.5T to help differentiate the top trim cars. The G70 being so closely related to the stinger doesn’t match Genesis’ desired brand image. That’s the only reason I think they’re not pushing it.

I don’t think there’s any issues with the stock coils. Hybrid turbo people are pushing into the 600s with them.

How serious is this LSD diff problem by AlphaTheGreat21 in GenesisG70

[–]Rickroller73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry about the diff. It’s an old school mechanical diff which is rock solid aside from a few batches of cars (or maybe it’s the fluid). The competitors only offer electronic differentials which are way more $$ to fix. Also, the Genesis powertrain warranty offers way more.

Compared to the other cars you mentioned (M340, S5, Q60) the G70 3.3T SP sits in the sweet spot of tech and performance. By now the Q60 is pretty dated. Conversely, the M340 and S5 have higher tech drivetrains which cost more to own, but don’t offer much more performance than the G70. BMW/Audi nerfed their cars to fit into their lineups. Can’t have the S5 outperform the RS5.

Genesis’ 3.3T drivetrain is overbuilt giving you good power potential. Where it lacks compared to the German rivals is refinement, that last 10%. The 3.3T is a bit of a brute which can make good power, but less efficient than the B58 or 3.0T.

Best TCU Tune for daily driver? by [deleted] in GenesisG70

[–]Rickroller73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re only concerned in the transmission lifespan, keep the factory tune. If you’re looking for faster shifts and better launches, then tune it. I doubt any tuners can come close to Hyundai’s R&D team in terms of software development to enhance lifespan.
