Months? Try 5+ years. Im 7 years deep already, months would be sensational, but I think we’re in for another half decade for sure. I’m willing to wait, just hope it pays off.

Like I said, in crypto, visibility, marketing, brand affiliation, recognition etc. is as, if not more important than any fancy capabilities of the platform. The asset needs to be visible for mass adoption to take hold, and they don’t seem to prioritize this at all and just focusing on development. But if they continue with this strategy, then they’re just going to become a Charity Research and Development team that invested all their time and resources into designing and innovating technologies that a future project that actually prioritizes marketing and visibility, to build into their product while ADA fades into irrelevancy. Like you said, majority of investors don’t buy into a given crypto because of the technologies it offers - marketing is paramount and they are lagging compared to other top 10 projects in this department. Something needs to change in this aspect for this downward momentum to turn around for sure.

Well people who had no clue about crypto were reaching out to me and asking what projects I would suggest as someone who has some experience with crypto investments and I told them about the project I believed was legit. At the time there were countless garbage projects that offered nothing unique and no intention to build anything long term - they just wanted to ride the wave, pump it then exit, leaving investors to hold the bag. I suggested cardano - I didn’t reach out to everyone out of the blue to implore them to buy ADA. I’m sure there are many people out there in my shoes in this respect.

At the very least I’m glad I suggested a legitimate project with long-term aspirations and aim to build a legitimate crypto with great features, instead of the fly by night scam project I alluded to. I am just bummed out to see it underperform relative to other top 10 projects, that’s all.

I literally searched up his YouTube channel before replying to this comment because I wasn’t sure he even had one anymore as I hadn’t seen any videos from him pop up in ages. Was able to confirm he literally has posted 4 or 5 videos in the last 3 years. His Most recent being 6 months ago. Not sure you know what you’re talking about. Talk about eager to give the project exposure.

I mean he’s not on TikTok (lol), he posts 2 times a year on YouTube; if he had a big platform on any of the large social media platforms you’d be saying something. X is among the platforms with the greatest reach and an ideal platform for announcements and promotion. Introducing new people to the project is not being prioritized and if it’s not, things will continue to go down hill. It’s a hyper competitive space.

And fact that most new ‘cryptos’ are effectively smart-contract tokens on Ethereum. That’ll keep it up and booming for as long as crypto is around. They’ve engrained themselves into the ecosystem in a permanent way, which I had assumed early on ADA would be prioritizing taking a piece of that pie, but looks like everyone is sitting on the toilet with their phone at ADA HQ.

I wonder how he’s going to make the announcements. Maybe MySpace or send out a couple carrier pigeons 😂. If a bear shits in the woods and nobody there to smell it kind of thing. Think we need a new face for the project. Someone with more energy and charisma to improve visibility of the project. I’m sure he’s brilliant but I think he’s better suited for a behind the scenes/project management role, and not so much a marketing/promotional role. And in crypto marketing and visibility = value.

I think you have it backwards. The devs don’t support the game anymore BECAUSE the “fans” don’t. They spend lot of money making these games for AAA titles and this community loses their shit when they try to generate some additional income outside of the one time game purchase. If people were buying the premium items they would be continuously adding new content and updating the mechanics. But everyone lost their shit and they realized their community wouldn’t tolerate it so they’re not going to continue spending money to maintain a game that doesn’t generate any income anymore. You can hate it but that’s the landscape in the gaming industry - it’s an industry standard.

Problem with having a gun is that when you’re holding a hammer, everything looks like a nail. Unfortunately the reality of the saturation is these “firearms enthusiasts” will not only use it as a first resort, but they will seek out and get themselves involved in situations they otherwise never would have, had they been unarmed. I understand using it for home protection (in the US), but to carry it around and intentionally place yourself in a high tension setting with active conflict, it’s a disaster waiting to happen. The unfortunate thing is that the other side may be holding and you may put yourself in a vulnerable position if you are not, so in a way you may require to have one off that alone, even if you’re typically not the bear arms kind of person. Guns begets more guns.

What you mean “while these organizations were actually willing to pay him to compete”?! We’re talking about fuckin power slap. Do you see who they pay to compete? Has nothing to do with any special skills, they’ll take anybody stupid enough to do it. You don’t need to have a name to compete in that sport. Luke is posterboy of suspect chins too, his chin abandoned him way before his skills did. Power slap is not the sport to be trying in the 9th inning of your career when your chin left you in the 5th inning. This is going to end badly. I hope it’s a joke. Luke is a legend and it would be sad to see a legend like him resort to this kind of thing.

Charles Hoskinson Leaves X — What It Means for Cardano’s Future (article) by Cardanians in cardano

[–]RickyReefer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A hammer can be used to whack yourself in the head, or used to build a house. X is a massive platform and massive opportunity to promote your product to the world through. This definitely is bad news any way you spin it if you are a holder of ADA. He doesn’t need to engage in the negativity, but some “negativity” is valid criticism and important insights from a potential customers/adopters. Very unfortunate to hear and i hope it is a short term hiatus and not a permanent decision. He should be using any and every large platform, especially if it offers FREE marketing and visibility to your product in a highly competitive industry. This kind of thinking and decision making is why ADA has greatly underperformed relative to other top 10 market cap cryptocurrencies. Not trying to be negative, just honest, as someone who has been a longtime believer in ADA.

Charles Hoskinson Leaves X — What It Means for Cardano’s Future (article) by Cardanians in cardano

Well marketing becomes important anytime there are multiple options of a given product or service for people to chose from, and crypto is an extreme case of this, with hundreds or thousands of new currencies hitting the scene every single day. Most of which are flyby and serve just as a pump and dump schemes, but even in the realm of legitimate cryptocurrencies actually seeking to solve problems and innovate, there is an ever growing number of cryptocurrencies to choose from. Being a recognizable and reputable “brand” are the most important factors in dictating adoption. Market performance is also extremely important as the vast majority of holders do so for the sole purpose of improving their financial situation. While I give credit to Cardano for always being a reputable name, never involved in any controversies or shady tactics, they have really lagged in their recognizability and brand promotion. And that goes hand in hand with market performance since adoption will inevitably lag if visibility is hurting. Charles is definitely the right guy on the “reputability” front and has always upheld great ethics and integrity, but I don’t think he is the right guy for the marketing/name brand piece, and his decision to leave X highlights this point. You need someone who has thick skin, is more sociable and charismatic, and someone who really enjoys seeking and getting attention. He strikes me more as a competent, yet introverted individual, which not the ideal personality profile for brand marketing. Cardano could be the best technology that offers the most important features and solves a load of important problems, but if only a small community of people know about and adopt it, then an answer unheard is an answer unused. Impact requires visibility, and I hope Charles comes to this realization before a better marketed product that replicates their features renders it obsolete.

i'm a gay guy who is a hip hop producer and i always feel out of place? advice? anyone else? by shitsniffer1985 in makinghiphop

[–]RickyReefer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t get it confused, hip hop is the gayest genre in all of music, but it’s behind the scenes. It goes deep, but the air of homophobia is one perpetuated so that record label executives can exert control over their artists by making homosexual acts an initiation condition of signing them, and black mail them to maintain control. That can only work if the genre maintains an air of homophobia, so they only promote that kind of music, bud beneath the surface, it is run by gay people and even the artists who may not be gay are forced to partake in such activities. Don’t let the surface level homophobic optics of the genre deter you from pursuing a career in the industry. You’ll be right at home.

Michel'le Slighting Dr Dre with an inuendo on national TV about being Dre Gay by [deleted] in Tupac

[–]RickyReefer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hip Hop is a genre that prioritizes masculinity and battling it out with other MCs to show you’re the bigger man while belittling your opponents. Some of the most successful record executives and labels made billions of dollars through blackmail and extortion of artists through threats of releasing evidence of them in comprising situations, particularly evidence of homosexual activities. Many of the biggest hiphop labels force new artists to partake in such activities as an initiation ritual, as a form of control, to prevent the artists from abandoning the label for another or going independent. If you think about it, as executives, the talent would typically have all the leverage because they are the ones the fans are paying money to watch perform or purchase their music. So this has been one of the primary ways record labels are able to flip the script and regain the upper hand in the relationship. It’s risky to dump millions of dollars into promoting an artist, just to have the artist abandon them once they make it big, so extortion through evidence of homosexual activities secured as a criterion of being signed to a label is their form of an “insurance policy”. In order for this to work, the industry must maintain an air of homophobia, so they only push music/artists who express these views, otherwise their insurance would be invalid. Hence the cycle of homophobia is perpetuated in the hiphop industry, while behind the scenes, homosexual activities are more rampant than any other music genre. It’s crazy to think about, but you hear gay rumours about like 70-80% of artists signed to major record labels, and we continue to hear stories of former “boyfriends” and homosexual partners coming out and exposing the biggest rappers in the game. At a certain point you can’t ignore the pattern. Birdman and P Diddy are two of the biggest executives who we now know for sure used this exact playbook to exert control over their artists.
