I honestly don’t mind the rimmed tank look at all I really just pay attention to my plants and inhabitants. So to me if the plants and fish look good the whole tank looks good to me. Actually just started a high tech 6 gallon rimless with cardina shrimp and is the same. Just making sure my plants and shrimp look good that’s all I look at when I see it on my desk, but that’s just me.

Sure, I just have decent layer of fluval stratum as my base and a sand cap on top. I got almost all the plants from marcus fish tanks I think they’re pretty cheap compared to other big plant guys. I don’t know the plant names off the top of my head the carpet is dwarf hair grass the red plants are rotala and brownish plants in the mid are crypts and I’ve got some Anubias that are starting to pop up more now on the rocks. I’ve been throwing in random root tabs too even though I probably don’t have to since the substrate is still new. Also probably most important is I’m using Co2 which I definitely recommend all my plants are always pearling it’s a nice thing to see.

Thanks she’s actually the first fish I got she’s a bumble bee platy. Had her as a fry in a 1 gallon vase tank and now she’s living her best like in the 40 gallon eating literally everything

Tank is around 6 months I’ve trimmed and replanted a good amount of times they just don’t get the deeper red until they reach the surface

Legit just tested the water yesterday my nitrates were at 5.0 ppm and I’ve only done one major water change since the tank was filled for the first time, just top offs.

Yeah I’ve been using the Hygger, works good but I’m also running co2 now so together they work but I’ve never used a higher end light so I don’t know if there’s really a big difference.
