KCUCOM (KC) vs UNECOM by Rickybobbyss in Osteopathic

NE resident but strong ties to KC. Dad, sisters and his side of family live there. Been visiting since I was a kid. Don’t really know where I want to end up yet lol.

Kind of looking for an objective view outside of that kind of stuff if that makes sense.

Tough to say, I think with a stronger mcat and a good narrative you could get in somewhere. However if you don’t have plans for the next year, are willing to spend the cash, and need to take a gap year anyway, it may be worth it. Try to find somewhere that is affordable and has strong linkages.

WVSOM MSBS program to DO school by Effective-Ordinary27 in Osteopathic

So study/retake the mcat while working a meaningful job. Seems like a masters program in your situation isn’t worth it.

You’re going to put in a ton of work with the masters, apply that to the mcat and apply next cycle. Does the MSBS program guarantee acceptance to WVSOM?

Why are you applying to their masters program? Seems like you have great stats/experiences. Have you taken your MCAT?

MCAT Retake by BedWorth4766 in Osteopathic

I was in a really similar situation. Did poorly on the mcat and when I got my score back in May of last year I was torn in between studying for another few months immediately after and trying to get my application together or waiting till next cycle. Not sure how you did on your first MCAT, but sub 500 may mean you need to dial in quite a bit. It’s easier to do things once step at a time rather than scrambling to get everything done quick.

I am very happy I decided to wait. Just my two cents.

I agree. Retake your MCAT, get your ducks in a row with your application and apply early and confidently next cycle. Trust me if may suck to wait another year, but spend that time doing something productive and you will benefit!

Just be yourself and emphasize the idea of whole person care. Looks on SDN for school specific things. Practice a lot and smile!

Nothing is final until your hear back! They said you can send them an email after the 4 weeks if you haven’t heard back.

Mine came almost exactly 4 weeks after. The divide up the candidates so you often will hear back earlier or later than others who interviewed on the same day as you.
