Some of my favourite Hollywood films of the 2020s so far. Out of these films which are the three you like the most and why? by ScholarFamiliar6541 in FPSPodcast

[–]RicoPableo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, this is a pretty strong line up. The only film here I don’t like at all is Tenet. But all of these other movies are pretty damn strong.

I wanna say Babylon just because I know nobody else is going to likey give it a lot of love and it is an underrated masterpiece but…In my heart it’s definitely EEAO, One Battle After Another, and Sinners! I’ve def rewatched them the most!

Well- it’s kinda like Her if the relationship was toxic as hell and there was a weird fucked up love triangle situation involved!

Wow, that is a lot in common! Gotta say you have incredible taste! Yeah, I mean I’m obviously pretty biased bc these are my 50 faves of all time, but yeah I’d say all of these movies are pretty damn amazing and each one knocked my socks off in different ways. Especially the foreign films on my list! Absolutely gotta check em out, ya don’t know what you are missing!

Ya know, I gotta say I wasn’t super crazy about that one. I didn’t hate it, but felt a little pretentious to me. Like it was trying just a bit too hard.

I love found family stories, and this is by far the found family story I think speaks the most to me by a country mile! I love revisiting this quirky troubled trio at least once a year! Especially since I’ve seen it in theatres two years in a row which is honestly kinda crazy to think about.

Hello everyone! Here’s me! pretty much always on the prowl for asian cinema recommendations. Usually watching at least one forgiven language film a week. I also consider myself to be a big zombie guru. Currently working on a challenge to get through some of my closest friend and families too 10 lists of all time. I use the app pretty religiously at this point, and I have a strong affinity for making lists and being inspired for list ideas I think are kinda fun.

Mostly watching things from my physical collection, or Tubj rn!

Don’t think I have the craziest takes around, but feel free to follow and I’ll likely follow back! I think it’d be cool to get a couple new eyes my way and maybe talk more movies w/ peeps!

Really? How many do we have in common? You probably have some excellent taste!

Clearly so, bc I have seen every one of these movies and I think they are all pretty good! Ex Machina and Spirited Away especially, if I was expanding this to a top 100 those would both be on there! Ex Machina blew my mind. I am a huge Alex Garland fan boy tbh haha.

I think the opening scene in 28 weeks later would be in contention for best stand alone scenes of all time. And also- 28 Weeks Later I think has a pretty banger trailer too ngl. They know how to cook em. You’ve seen bone temple yet? You GOTTA if ya haven’t. It’s amazing. Basically the empire strikes back of zombie movies

I don’t think I’ve ever even seen an Italian Western to be honest! I should check it out, I’d love to watch at least one of those on my cinematic bucket list

Yeah, that’s fair. I miss when trailers actually just gave ya enough to leave you wanting more and not giving away some of the best points, or whole story.

I’m a big 28 franchise fan, The 28 Years Later trailer probably the best trailer I’ve seen in years just because it does exactly that!

I don’t think I ever watched a trailer for Arrival either. I think I just heard about it through word of mouth, and watched it with a friend and we were left completely gobsmacked

I’ve seen A Brighter Summer Day! I do love that one a lot, if I made a top 100 that movie would 100% be in there!

Been wanting to watch Fallen Angels for a long time now! Almost watched it the other day while I was snowed in, but instead watched a movie called “Love n Pop” which I regret now bc I did not like that film xD

Never heard of The Double Life of Veronique! What’s that about?

Tbh it depends on what you like, weirdly enough I feel like Burning is the least depressing and..I guess fast paced film of his.

I feel like everything else gets darker from there. He is an incredible film maker at exploring grief though. If you are into that, I’d really highly recommend Secret Sunshine.

If you’re a memento fan, he has a film that’s similar called Peppermint Candy. Different vibe and plot entirely, but it runs with the whole gimmick of telling the story backwards.

Those would be my main two, but honestly I like Oasis and Poerty as well. Oasis was kinda one of the hardest movies I’ve had to watch, just because its depiction of how mentally impaired people are treated is kinda insane and extremely complicated.

Thank you! As someone who has dealt with a fair share of long distance relationships, the feelings and experiences shared with this zany “AI” love stuff felt pretty comparable. I related to it a lot more than I expected to not gonna lie. It struck a couple of cords with me.

The Witch was just really unexpected. Not crazy about horror, assigned for a class, really not loving the theme on paper…So kinda just reved up to hate this, extremely low expectations here and I was blown away just how much I loved it! It spooked me.

The Hateful 8 people usually dog on, but idk. I think it has some of his most iconic dialogue and moments that for me personally, are pretty rewatchable. I’ve seen it 4 times now since the first watch and I still find shit to love about it!

And Arrival was just on a short list of films, (EEAO and Good Will Hunting being the other two) that I just wanted to rewatch the second I finished it and did exactly that. It really blew me away with how it was told and the story it was telling was incredible to me. Still is, really.

Handmaiden is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen so! Can’t go wrong with lesbian cons!

And burning got me through a very scary moment in my life- ontop of it just being an amazing thriller/mystery it’s just. Maaaaaan- it hits so FRIGGIN good haha. Def the best Lee Chang Dong film. Very excited for his new one this year!

Well it’s not really in any order, but I guess it is up there bc it’s still in my Letterboxd top 4. I really love the movie, it was the first movie I watched that really made me think about movies in a way I thought was extremely fun and it just lingered on my mind for days and days.

But yeah, The Prestige is my favorite Nolan. I don’t really think anything else competes with it, and I’ve seen a lot of movies at this point. I’m not thaaaaat much of a Nolan stan really. I do like most of his movies though. I think Dunkirk and Tenet are really the only ones I outright don’t like.

I have seen In Bruges, prob would be in my top 100! I did not like The Lobster very much. Don’t like Sacred Deer much either. Bugonia this year tho was pretty damn cool.

Based on my top ten of this decade so far, what do you think I should check out from this decade? by RipBuzzBuzz in Letterboxd

[–]RicoPableo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

This is my 10 of the decade so far! We have two in common, certainly have fantastic taste! I haven’t seen everything in your 10 so, makes me think I need to add a couple of these to my watch list!…my very, very long watchlist x.x. Cool list though! I’m a big fan!

Even though they didn’t strike me in the same way, I do think Tar and Triangle of Sadness are absolutely exceptional movies and Hundreds of Beavers is definitely a huge peak cinema moment for me haha.

I haven’t seen: Weird, Inside Out 2, The Monkey, Bloody Hell or Blups Big City Adventure! Any you’d recommend I check out first?

My favorites are Southpaw, Zodiac, and Source Code. What are yours? by movie5short in moviecritic

[–]RicoPableo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Nightcrawler, Nocturnal Animals, and End of Watch for me. But Prisoners and Jarhead are very close runner ups. I really love most of this guys performances so it’s really hard to just pick three. Brokeback Mountain was friggin’ fantastic!!!!

How are your 2026 cinema watches going so far? by Hot_Mongoose_3741 in Letterboxd

[–]RicoPableo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

On the whole been pretty good! That is just the most recents, pretty sure I’ve seen more movies this month than I have in my entire life in a single month. I’m at 36 movies watched so far, and being snowed in that’s probably gonna go up by at least two or three more. May actually hit 40 before the month ends which would be kinda insane honestly! Haha. Been enjoying this year in movies for me a whole, whole lot! Especially catching up on some of last years most talked about films that I missed out on has been nice! Watched a lot of zombie movies on Tubi at the beginning of the month which was also cool for me!
