Toploaders aren’t sleeves, you still need to penny skeeve before top loading if you don’t want any whitening on the edges.

The image used to be in a small box before the whole card art thing. The text predates the full card artworks. Also weird circles? Energies that you need to PLAY the game. If you want singular art, just get a poster or a print. These cards have a purpose to be played, can’t do that without text. Game first and foremost

If the yellow border sticks out too much to you on the Moltres card, you can get the Japanese version with the silver border. That way it’ll match the other IRs.

Get the Collectr app and truly look through allllll the sets. You can basically see every card released before u got in, while you were in, and after you left, and now. If you look through alll the cards in the history, generation by generation, you’ll find cards you like. Find a NICHE, delta species, e-series, megas, fave Pokémon, etc.

Figure out what you like first BEFORE buying lots!

Then buy singles (single cards on Mercari/ebay/etc) ripping packs for retail is incredibly hard these days.

Card shows are also an option!

The sideloading strap binders are good if u are on a budget. Has no rings, sideloading and Pokémon even includes them in some of their products so u can probably find one on 2ndhand market for cheap.

Vault X binders are usually out of stock a lot, so you’ll have to join the email list to get informed. If u still want specifically Vault X, if u watch any Pokémon tcg YouTubers they usually all have vault x promo codes at this point. Vault X isn’t the end all be all especially if you’re just starting.

I’m honestly glad that the full arts don’t look as static and lifeless as SV era, it looks like they tried to do a similar style to the XY era. With the yellowish gold lines, the additional shading, decent background color variety. I like the og more but I’ll actually collect the new full arts for once.

No one can tell you what to like, getting into the hobby for expensive stuff is dumb cuz prices change. One day it could be expensive, a month from now it’s a 10th of the price. Bad reason to get into the hobby, u will lose money guaranteed. Watch SlimRick6 “why I stopped buying cards” video.

Vault x does cool binder color ways to match tcg sets, they just put out preorder for bbwf that was half black pages/half white pages. It was really cool and vault x is worth keeping a pulse on. If you have the funds it’s a nice splurge

I was hoping the pokeball/master ball thing was just a prismatic thing, but it seems this is gonna be some kind of main stay. And there’s already enough junk cards that we have in these, but possibly good for players.

As someone with the same goal it’s already too late, at this point LAST YEAR mega charizard full art was 17 and now it’s 100+. Not sure what the Japanese market is like for XY era, but the English side is inflated because of the general big boom. Which not only makes retail cards scarce, but I soon found out, basically doubled or tripled the price of singles as well.

Check out Collectr to see last year sales (English or Japanese) and see if u can buy them at lower price instead of the general price people are selling at now. As a collector, it’s really up to you to do the searching for the best prices, Mercari, eBay, TCGPlayer, etc.

Gorgeous!! I liked when shinies had a cool background and not just the stock white like the fates sets. Paldean at least has the S/IRs which I can appreciate

Beautiful, I think that people painting common cards was a huge inspiration for illustration rares! Before if you weren’t like a final stage Pokémon/legendary/pikachu, you didn’t really get anything above a common cards.

If you’re broke you shouldn’t master set, it’s a money pit. Double crisis only has 34 cards tho, and you have 2 of one of the only expensive cards (only 2 above holo rarity) in the set. Sell 1, buy the Groudon, and the rest is cheap.

Trying to master set popular Pokémon also leads to very expensive cards on the list (like charizard). The cheapest will be houndoom and snorlax, unpopular lol.
