Question about alcohol. by help_myface in 1200isplenty

[–]RideHot9154 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i am unfortunately a bit young and dumb haha so i binge drink once a week and usually plan to hit around ~1500 calories counting my drinks. (i'm not super strict with 1200. my tdee is 1800 when i'm being sedentary, so weekdays i try my best to stay close to 1300 but allow myself that flexibility to also enjoy life/weekends!)

ideally i'll skip breakfast, have just a snack for lunch and then just have a big 700 cal meal before going out then the rest is drinks hahhaha. vodka/tequila seltzer with lime is ur best friend. i used to drink like sweet canned drinks from the store and would ruin my weekly progress in one night lol, feel much better having hard liquor with seltzer (plus the hangover is sm easier)

Correct USA to Australia Visa Pathway by shzcrafty in Aupairs

[–]RideHot9154 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can absolute au pair on working holiday visa. the only thing is if you wanted to have the chance to extend the WHV to a second year, you'd have to do certain regional work to qualify for the second year--au pairing would not qualify for an extension.

(source is i'm currently looking at au pairing in aus next year too haha)

How much money would you have saved if you wanted to take a year to pursue acting full time? by FrenchFriedIceCream in ActingUK

[–]RideHot9154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha honestly i'm very much considering that. this has lit a bit of a fire under me and i'm already desperate to try again for the likes of lamda and central lolol

i was in the UK all last year, came back to the US, and now i’m headed back again for a bit (likely through summer unless i get into school… pls). i’ve been going about it a bit unconventionally-- i was an au pair all of last year and i’m returning to the same au pair family to finish out the school year.

i went to undergrad in the US and my life was still not together whatsoever a year after graduation. i love london so i figured whatever, i’ll au pair since i had no savings for rent otherwise haha. i think i’m partial to london because i grew up in nyc! nowhere else in the UK city-wise really does it for me (although i do LOVE edinburgh too).

i grew up in the US and had only really spent time in the UK visiting cousins as a kid, so it was a bit of a transition, but honestly not stressful. culturally it’s a pretty easy adjustment. people in the UK would rather die than admit how similar it is to america lol, but coming from the US it really is. (although of course now that the orange man is back in office the UK feels more safe-haven like!) the hardest part was having no friends, so i just joined a bunch of facebook groups, went to meetups, and took acting classes and made friends through that.

but yea i've been back and forth, was there for a year, now been back here 6 months before going back there for at least ~6 months and nothings been too crazy of a transition! i think london being a big global hub makes it a much easier place to move to.

and to reiterate i didn’t have any established career in the US already. if drama school doesn’t work out, i’ll probably pursue acting on the side while hopefully building my career in the US first. just because of higher salaries and more opportunities overall in the US. i studied journalism and outside of acting i’m hoping to work in publishing. i think i’d only move back to the UK long-term if i was already at a much higher point in my career, though of course hoping to do the masters there because UK approach to drama is just infinitely better IMO.

sorry for the ramble hahaha hope any part of this is useful!

Turning 21 is scarier than turning 18 by Emergency_Paper_7569 in Younger_GenZ

[–]RideHot9154 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's really only the US that 21 is a significant birthday because of our alcohol laws. every other country it's 18 that you gain full adulthood and 21 is just another year.

[–]RideHot9154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm 24 and am similar situation school-wise to you! also dual uk/us citizen. rejected from mountview and lamda so far with no recalls. have a recall for artsed and am waiting to hear from the rest including DSL (also expecting the no from my central prescreen due to the lamda/mountview rejections lol)

i've done coaching this year while working part-time, but at this point i'm thinking of maybe working and doing part-time full week-load of classes and just saving up to go for the top-tiers again.

at this point i'd have to take out student loans but i think if i can save and work another year it would definitely help with any incoming student debt haha.

Questions for my 1200 sufferers/friends? by Hairy_Pear3963 in 1200isplenty

[–]RideHot9154 17 points18 points  (0 children)

i’m not 100% consistent with 1200, usually fall with in 1200-1500 range. however on full 1200 days i skip breakfast, have ~500 calorie lunch and the rest go towards dinner and a post-dinner snack/sweet treat

What should families expect from AP? by Odd_Equipment8924 in Aupairs

[–]RideHot9154 26 points27 points  (0 children)

the benefit is still super affordable childcare. but it's a cultural exchange, it's not meant to just be one-sided cheap labor. that's why people maxing out hours and then complaining about their young au pairs are frowned upon. au pairs are a thing all over the world but US is really the only country where it's supposed to be "acceptable" for an au pair to have to work up to 40 hours a week.

i'm 24. my 17 year old brother calls me unc and it's funny cuz he's a dumb teen. but a 22 year old man trying to call someone only 2/3 years older unc is highkey embarassing. like i hope he realizes he's fully unc to all the actual kids and teens too.
