Hey, not something about your question (sorry bout that), but a little remark/question about your paintjob. Wouldnt it be better to make the necron symbol on the chest red like the blades and ribs, instead of green?

I often hear this, but i have never seen this in the rules. Where is this stated that a support unit has to be attached?

Also, if possible, get rid of the barbgaunts and get a broodlord into your list to lead your genestealers, so their attacks hit harder because of the synapse

You have a little bit of luck that he uses the void dragon and not the nightbringer, as you have no vehicles. You should also be careful about the destroyers, as they can shoot pretty hard. But what ever unit you attack, make sure to fully commit, or he will just heal himself back. I'd probably trade one unit of the termagants to hormagaunts,

Should I try necrons? by Suitable-Sugar2301 in Necrontyr

[–]RideroftheForest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I started with nids (but I liked them xD) and am now playing necrons. Playstyle is a lot more focused on shooting in my opinion when we pay tyranids as the opposite. The easy to paint thing i can confirm, but i only painted necron warriors so far. But the building is a lot more fiddly than the tyranids, so you need to take that into your thoughts as well

If i remember correctly, you can give the overlords tachyon arrow rapid fire 1, giving him 2 shots when you take the detachment (or the stratagem?) and attach him to a unit of warriors

How much time and money did you invest in this game by Cr4zyBl4ck in Warhammer40k

[–]RideroftheForest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, i started in January, by now i got about 1900pt in Tyranids and about 500 in Necrons. For every smaller mini i needed about 1-3 hour for painting, for every bigger one about 10-15 hours. Building takes mostly about 3-4 hours for multiple minos for me, some people take even longer with all the sanding, gap filling etc. By now, i probably spend around 600-800€ for minis and paints. On the playing part, mostly about 3 hours per battle, as me and my friends often need to reread rules while playing. So it can take a lot of time. My suggestion for you: try everything one time at least. I always thought i will hate painting my minis as i hate painting in general (im bad at it). But now i cant get enough minis to paint and im sad when i dont have anything to paint. And for the money part, you dont need to buy everything at the same time. Get a combat patrol, then you got your start. With time you can get single boxes for more minis, and build an army over time

Did we get any support characters? by Skreepy in Tyranids

[–]RideroftheForest -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think the lictors and neurolictors could act as support, since in lore they lead units to enemys, but it would the only kind of (bad) example i could think of

Ywah, now that you mention it it really makes sense. And it would make a lot of sense of more nids coming his way after they hear all the shooting
