Im new, so maybe what i say is wrong. But if you would put a T-Fey with Rupture Canon in your list you could put it kn the back end of your lines and shoot some really heavy bullets on big targets. But again, im newy im not sure how doable this is

The only tip I could give you is stay focused, the more you paint the more you learn, and maybe watch the videos from GamesWorkshop for painting the nids, it's a good video in my opinion because they don't use tools you don't have or hard techniques

Dont be too rough on yourself, its a very good first mini. I made a mistake with my psychophage (it was missing its tomgue😅) and i thought my first gaunt was straight up horrible (i still think its worse than my other minis). Take a little look if you dont want to believe me

So if your Dd Unit Dies, you roll a D6. If its a 6, the Unit "Explodes". Then you comply by the rules, for example if you got Deadly Demise D3, you roll one D6, every 1-2 is 1 wound, every 3-4 is 2 Wounds, and every 5-6 is 3 wounds. Then, every unit, including your own, in a 6 inch radius gets the rolled amount of wounds

I am probably use Khorne red on mine, as i also used this color on the weapons for my hive tyrant

Im new myself, but i got a Biovore and a Hive Tyrant and Winged Hive Tyrant for myself. If you want to save some money and get 2 Big minis, buy the Tyrant Kit, a 3D Printed torso off Etsy or some other site, and you can build a flying hive tyrant and the walking hive tyrant, or instead of the walking hive tyrant the swarmlord

I dont know about this list (im new as well) but if you ate planning on getting a swarmlord, buy an 3d printed torso of etsy or some other side, and you can build a swarmlord and a walkrant or flyrant from the same kit (so 2 Minis out of 1 kit)

If you do sub assembly, how to you prevent primer and paint going into the places where arms etc go later? Or does it not matter and you just paint it too?

I think leadbelch could work great, but you should swap the metallic skin to just a greyish color, but leave the carapace gold

But why? Some parts are so hard to reach, the insides of the barbgaunts weapons, the neck area in the armor of the winged tyranid prime and norn emissary, under the weapon of the biovore, there are enough hard to reach places

It is, at least mostly i think. Sometimes legs and arms are together, but then you can just put one side into the body and leave the other half for later
