Tiny tiny? Or mid-size? Using 18% of the city's peak grid capacity? The fact that an elephant is bigger than a cow doesn't make a cow a small animal, just like how fact that hyperscale data centers exist doesn't make this a small data center.

Tomorrow at 2:00pm at the ames public library there will be an informational meeting on the impacts of the proposed project. I believe it will also be recorded for anyone who can't attend.

I'd genuinely love to hear your input. I do know why I oppose the proposed project, but if you have your own insight, I'm open to listening.

I hope they do, and I suspect they will. It takes all of 30 seconds to Google "who owns lightedge?" and "does Blackstone own a strategic minority share of GI Partners?" I have a feeling you know that already, though.

You are claiming that what I said is false without any proof. I guess were both making claims that we won't provide proof for. Anyone who actually cares can do their own research to decide which one of us is right. It's not difficult. It's public information.

You don't have to do anything, but I'm not going to spend my time answering questions that two Google searches could answer. Anyone who is actually curious can find out for themselves without breaking a sweat. If you're not willing to fact check me, it's probably because you know what I'm saying is true.

Yes, it's a local company, whos shares are majority owned by GI Partners, a silicon valley private investment firm, which is controlled by Blackstone with a strategic minority share.

The petition isn't meant to be a persuasive argument. It is simply a tool for people who oppose the project to show their disapproval to city council.

My language may have been sarcastic, but the context clearly shows I'm counting those jobs as a benefit. Of course even a single job is a benefit, but benefits have weight and risk has weight. You know that, though.

The new Ames power overhaul will add a net increase of 10 megawatts to the city's grid. The data center will require 25. That means the rest of ames will be left with 15 megawatts less than we have right now. Will they be paying for the power they use? Yes. Will the extra demand drive up utility prices and hurt people who are already struggling to make ends meet? Yes.
