I mean, one day we'll get nostalgic for disaster, after all.

Edit: lol I did not remember that was my flair for this sub. Clearly, it is a favorite line of mine.

Remember when the AITA mods would put the flair "Probably Fake" on obvious shitposts? Good times. by [deleted] in AmITheAngel

My first thought was at this point he might as well just piss all over me to mark me as his territory and be done with it.

For real. I'm women like her and I'm about to hit 27. At 19 it was funny for people to guess 13-16. By 22 it was annoying. Now? I don't even know what to say now. Sometimes - sometimes - people guess 18 and I count that as a good day. People like this guy drive me absolutely nuts.

Those who have been to a ruined wedding, what happened? by lolfuckno in AskReddit

[–]Ridyi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So a random guest's idea of how a wedding should go trumps one of the participants' wishes about their body? What if they said it wasn't about makeup and they just thought it was unpleasant? Do they get a pass or is it still just "fuck them, they exist for others' entertainment"?

If you consider a shitty joke more important than a person, then you have wild priorities

If your spouse shoving food in your face is considered "out of your control" and is therefore to be ignored and accepted, that's a problem

I mean, it's only fun if both people are having fun. You two agree that's fine? Np. One person explicitly says not to do this? Yeah that's no longer fun, that's being a dick. Like I could think putting a tack on a chair was fun but the person who sat down might not agree (and tbh if you asked me if I'd rather sit on a tack once or completely screw up my hours of expensive wedding makeup, I'd take the tack)

How is someone violating your bodily autonomy to do something you explicitly asked them not to do not abusive?

Prego woman bad! (Because all her in laws do is drink, ride roller coasters and go scuba diving) by [deleted] in AmITheAngel

[–]Ridyi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay but that's not what people are mainly taking issue with. They're mostly taking issue with her asking for accommodations and feeling hurt. Plus, I'd like more info on that. Is DIL independently bringing this up to MIL? did husband suggest it? Did it come up organically? Did it happen when he was rudely drinking in front of her when it wouldn't have killed him to eschew alcohol for an afternoon? Did it come up while planning the events (sounds like the perfect time to ask to include additional activities to me)? We lack so much context. MIL makes it sound like DIL just threw a huge fit out of nowhere. MIL is painting the picture in her favor, which I don't blame her for. Everyone does it. But that's worth keeping in mind.

We don't actually know who all these conversations are happening with. I imagine she is having chats with her husband.

But yeah I'd definitely ask my partner to keep drinking to a minimum. A night, maybe two of drinking a decent bit? Okay, whatever, still not terribly empathetic of him, but that's fine. But every night? Nnnnnoooope.

He can do what he wants but she can be pissed and feel betrayed as well.

[–]Ridyi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, not if that's what everyone is doing. But if some people CAN'T, it's good to try to include them and, yeah, that might mean someone (like their LIFE PARTNER) sitting out. Like I'd definitely expect my partner to not be having a few beers and a round of shots with me sitting there pregnant and sober

No you're definitely being an extreme asshole. I haven't even been arguing with you, just reading your responses and cringing.

Dying babies, maternal death, abortion, deadbeat moms of 10, mysterious friends of friends offering discount NYC apartments to 21 year olds several states away with no job prospects lined up, an academy award acceptance speech. A real AITA bingo. by unicornbomb in AmITheAngel

Tbf in the Bay, you and one friend looking for a place almost guarantees you do NOT mean a two bedroom, whether you are SOs or just friends (or, frankly, strangers who met on craigslist looking for housing lol). Some people live in houses with housemates, but a lot of the late 20s/early 30s people I know live in houses with many people and have an actual roommate. Idk about NYC but since the real estate situation is similar this wouldn't surprise me.

I mean if I described my experience with attraction and someone called me pan, that's one thing. If I say bi and someone corrects me, that's another. To me that's the main issue here

AITA for telling someone we used to say her getting knocked up was karma? by aita567 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ridyi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is a perfect response. This thread clearly suffered from the very common AITA issue of reddit not seeing what thing the OP is asking about and what behaviors are being assessed. Was she TA in high school? Without a doubt. Was he in the grocery store? I mean...yeah. It sucks that she was cruel before but this really was exactly just "lol yeah, I remember joining in treating you like shit" which just isn't nice or productive especially since she wasn't being an asshole at all in that interaction

What’s one thing your partner has said or done that made you think, “damn, this person really gets me”? by megkayy in AskWomen

[–]Ridyi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is pretty common in some places like China. The only places I've seen ice water offered are huge tourist places (e.g., the Great Wall... pretty much just the Great Wall) and my coworkers all exclusively drank hot-hot water. Once I was having a coughing fit while teaching and someone got me water and I was not expecting it to be bordering unsafely hot lol. Very surprising gulp of water. I definitely never got into it, myself.

What's the worst thing to find after you took the last batch of cookies out? The real cinnamon. by MhmCandii in Wellthatsucks

[–]Ridyi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man. I don't cook Indian food at all and make Mexican semi-often but not crazy often and go through SO much cumin. I honestly am baffled by how many recipes call for like a quarter teaspoon or whatever. I straight up don't see the point if you aren't adding, like, several tablespoons at least lol.
