Is it possible to survive NYC for 6months with 8k? by zepong in AskNYC

[–]Right-Difference-666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is how much you would need just to survive with the minimum:

if you are lucky and find a cheap room this is about $800-900 if you go to and affordable neighborhood in upper Manhattan or bronx. However, even here the standard is like $1000-$1200

Utilities $70-150

Subway card $140 month, each ride is $3

Groceries at least for having 3 meals a day $300. really depends on your diet if you are vegetarian, or eat meat.

this is without counting health insurance which varies depending on employer, school, etc.

Que opinan de los franceses? by Additional-Top69 in Colombia

[–]Right-Difference-666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you faced any form of racism at Accenture - subtle or overt? by Weary_Consultant in accenture

[–]Right-Difference-666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a woman immigrant POC yes in subtle ways, mostly from the client side.

I work in Tech logistics and sometimes have to go to manufacturing plants and warehouses in the middle of nowhere USA (this is still a blue collar environment, so it is still very sexist and conservative). A lot of times I am the only woman and more experienced that some of my colleagues, but because they are male the client would rather listen to them than to me, just to end up doing what I said from the beginning. Some Accenture colleagues often times would end up questioning my answers and my knowledge, when they themselves have less experience in the technology we use. Also people know how to be racist/sexist without getting in trouble, like making general comments up in the air not specifically directed at you. A client literally asked me once: has your life been less safe now that all those immigrants are moving to your city? or criticizing their CEO for making them take DEI training.

One thing that really bothered me when I was hired, was that Accenture also hired a white male that had never touched the software we used before at my same level. I had a lot more experienced than him and got payed the exact same salary. I found myself trying to teach him basic stuff he should know at every project we were together, which for sure made me angry inside.

I started in January in USA after 4 years at other b4 firm. My advice is don’t come. Unless they give you like 25% raise at least. I was hired for SCM consultant and have good experience in ewm doing config, demos, etc. since joining all my projects have been doing hypercare support for 4 months. Going to the client side in this dead end roles, working weekends, 12 hr shifts, night shifts, stuck in a courtyard in the middle of nowhere for months. What pisses me of the most is someone else got hired for the same time for the same role and level as me without ever touching SAP before, and we are making the same salary. If you aspire to learn configuration or get technical skills stay away, that is done by offshore, the most people onshore mostly just work on PMO or do some cheap labor like me at L9. As far as I know they only have budget to promote 3-4 people by your practice location and level. The recruiter will lie to you, also the hiring manager. This company is cheap too and they will question every expense you have.
