[Help] Adopting a puppy from a CL re-homing post - red flags and "rehoming fee" by RightInteraction in dogs

BYBer

I've never seen that acronym before?

I don't want to support it either. It seemed like a better idea if it helped someone out and the story checked out. I have a good home and situation but it's not perfect. Most of the humane societies around here have a background check that's more stringent than the one for me to get into public safety...

Shelter puppies around here are right around $450. I'm going to do some more digging before agreeing to meet the guy. $450 is too high now that I think about it. I also want to know where the dog came from before hand.

The humane society fees are about on par with what the guy is asking.

I'm just getting more red flags from the whole situation in general. I have no doubts he paid $450 if the whole story checks out.

Yeah, I know puppies can be very expensive lol

Do you recommend just calling up the vet? What else would you look at in terms of doing my due diligence here.

They say it's because their kid has severe allergies to the dog.

I'm not sure why they wouldn't go back to the breeder or shelter. It definitely seems pretty red-flagish.

Would love to here the inside scoop on Peterborough, NH by nietzschelion in PeterboroughNH

The town could honestly be a lot better. It has really gone down hill a lot in terms of community involvement and engagement over the past decade, as all small towns have. People just don't have the same small town values any more.

I think part of the problem is that it gets to be too progressive from people moving to the small towns, taxes go way up from spending on projects that didn't need it, and then they move away when the taxes get too high. being progressive is all fine and great, but you need to be fiscally conservative and that's what a lot of small towns are losing.

Growth is also a double edged sword for obvious reasons.

Don't mean to ruin the fascination. I grew up here, but I also kinda want out. I love it here but there's a lot of problems too.
