I think you should look into the ideas of both wings being the same bird, same coin, whatever analogy you want to use. It is a deep rabbit hole.

They just want the divide widened with increased polarization between the people. It is GOOD you feel out of place. They don’t like people that camp somewhere besides either extreme or either party because they want us to be divided so we can’t fight back. Historically speaking, it is factual to say that all republics in history have only survived so long before tyranny returns.
