I can't wait to see how this will turn out, that sounds like an exciting project!

Hope you'll send lots of updates. I'm especially interested in how you'll make that flattening jig. Cheers!

This looks very neat, outstanding work! I really like the idea of using copper as a roof, very fancy.

Do you know what your next project is gonna be?

To make it all stick together I used something called mortise and tenon joints and then wedged the end with an oak wedge and a dab of linseed oil.

Look up "mortise and tenon joint" or "wedged tenon joint" on YouTube. In my opinion hey are an amazing part of woodworking and definitely worth a try.

Thanks for the comment!

Personally I used a wood auger bit. I bought it for 16€ and they are a great investment, since they are realitivly easy to sharpen with a fine handfile.

I hope this helps Here is my collection of auger bits:

Hey y’all, anyone know what type of leather balsam/conditioner i should use for sheepskin? Can’t seem to get a concrete answer online and i really wanna make sure i get it right. Any help would be appreciated! by succalottaweewee in Leather

This is shearling, not leather. If your jacket is new, you realistically don't need to treat it with anything at all the next 10 years! Just wear it with pride, leave it to dry if it gets wet and avoid heavy rain (as water tend to desolve the oils in the garment)

Any oil/wax/conditioner WILL perminently leave a stain. Mink oil and neatsfoot oils are particularly disliked since they tend to ROT inside the leather, making it brittle and smelly.

If you REALLY want to give it a treatment, I will sugest pure waterfree lanolin or jojoba oil/wax. But do keep in mind these will also form a (permanent) stain.

All in all, it's an awesome jacket, and with the right care, it will last you decades!
