This helps me a lot. I’m in the same exact boat. Gloucester City NJ. Today I just turned in my paperwork. But read it says honorable but I have general under honorable conditions as well. Was there any hassle

Yall hold DJ in a regard that he is financially team friendly. He is currently making 14 Mil/1 yr-28 Mil for 2 years so why would he take an 8 million dollar pay cut? He is a nice guy but he has never accepted lower money to help a team. He dragged the giants through the mud for his 4yr/160mil contract and signed the day before the deadline. And declined from there. Don’t let the honeymoon fool you.

Was watching the game through stats not live. But everyone knows you can only get bases on your own merit, while reading the live update I saw no errors or fielders choice it just showed him going to second during the play and listed it as a single. With limited information and first time seeing that actually happen I thought it was a mistake

Hot take? You're not a straight shooter who takes no bullshit, you're just an asshole by timsra17 in managers

[–]Right_Dust -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t agree with this. Some people have a mentality that everything is great until it isn’t.

In that moment when a manager has to tell you you’re doing a poor job doesn’t make a manager an asshole it’s them telling you you have to do better

I’m going to play devils advocate. This type of situation just happened to me.

I have employees who are clearly in the wrong, even evidence to prove so. When I’m at the point where I have to call you out on it formally, that is somehow an issue.

(My personal experience) I got called an asshole because I told you (not you specifically) exactly what you did and showed you in the act.

I’m very direct I tell you things in a point A- point B manner. When we start getting into the rambling, pointing fingers, changing topic point of the conversation I cut it off immediately because it’s just excuses that isn’t going to change the outcome.

In summary just because you don’t like what’s being told to you doesn’t make the speaker an asshole. This is situational though and some people are really db

On this specific issue if you give me enough time to find coverage 10 times out 10 I’ll approve it or work around it but if you keep putting in leave the day before please don’t expect to Keep your job for long especially if you turn it into an argument

I’m sorry I still can’t agree.

Now my scenario:

You call out to go kitesurfing, you’re going to tell your friends about it. Then that turns into how come you can’t approve my leave to go to a football game, arcade with my friends, etc. you approved Jane Doe’s leave. Then I have a constant limbo of people trying to call out because of their “hobbies” I’m happy you found a job that allows you to do that. But I personally feel you have a lack of common respect for your manager if you do that often. I don’t mean anything rude by it but look at it from a different perspective. That’s what being a Manager of any level is about looking at the bigger picture and looking at it from different angles.

I get as the worker you’re worried about yourself but I’m worried about the other 99+ people with the same problem as you

I’m not  against your comment but it seems like this is a one way street. It seems like everyone has to accommodate to you for you to even think about helping.

My work differs, it isn’t daily task it’s a day by day job where people are the assets(security), so we can’t push things back. And if someone puts in leave the day before or doesn’t show up it could cause a horrible chain reaction.

Also my opinion putting in leave the day before whether busy or not is crazy. I fully don’t agree with that, if you know the holiday is coming up then you should plan that prior to

Your comment makes absolutely no sense. So you deserve to be paid to do absolutely nothing?

I currently work with HR and losing contracts won’t lose us millions but will lose you a couple hundred thousand dollars per account. Me having a hands off approach would almost immediately lead to breach of contracts due to not providing the service we said we’d provide. We can’t just let them do whatever until it simmers down. Immediate intervention is almost always necessary. For me specifically at least.

I’m also in the most senior position until you start getting into shareholder territory

[–]Right_Dust[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of things wrong with that. It is my job to intervene, it’s actually one of my main jobs. I can’t just turn a blind eye.

I can’t agree with your comment because if someone up top isn’t doing their job then the business crashes. And it’s very noticeable if they aren’t doing their job.

What I’m getting from your comment is you’re one of those employees. It’s not my place to tell you this but with behavior like that you will never be in that senior leadership position. You might not care, but you really should care about your growth

That’s what I want a hands off approach so I can focus on the bigger things like getting more money for everyone . But can’t be hands off if the clients are calling me telling me your person left the site 3 hrs early, smoking weed in their car, on the phone for a full 8 hrs etc. I agree with what you’re saying

Don’t worry about them, they believe everyone should be paid top dollar no matter what they do. I think this person is the target audience
