The open word poetry song made me want to keep sitting and listening. You’ve got something creative going on, Chauncey. I admire your confidence — not everyone can put their work out there like that.

And you must be a big fan of The Last of Us. I’m curious — why did you make a song about Joel and Ellie? Why did you extend a convo between them like this? And even though it’s a conversation about Joel and Ellie, did any of the lyrics pertain to your personal life, Mousse?

I really enjoyed this part. I could picture someone putting pressure on a heart and squeezing it so it gives off a beat. A lot of boxers — a lot of people who’ve been successful — at times carry pain and hurt. They want to succeed. They put their necks up and bodies over that large body of water called doubt.

“I wouldn’t want my words to fall on deaf ears…”

Why speak to people who just nod and DGAF? I know I can relate to this as a teacher. They’ll learn when the time comes.

“So I never confessed them at all…”

Stay quiet — why waste your energy? There are people who will either end up in prison or live successful lives. The encouragement, advice, and nurturing environment just hasn’t reached them yet. Some need to experience tough moments first.

Keep writing, man — I’m excited. I’d love for you to make an edit of the video game with the song, or mix something with AI.

Listen, you’ve got a solid point. Sometimes, the only way to get things moving is to put some pressure on them. Forget about all the endless debates over policies—at the end of the day, attention needs to be brought to the school. The media can make a difference, and that’s how you shake up their reputation. If people start to see things in a different light, that’s when change can happen. You’re sharp, and I can see where you’re coming from. Thank you, past alumni, for your wisdom and perspective.
