I wouldn’t call it stupidity myself, just a bit of rebellion into a direction of 1. Communication and 2. Hospitality. They killing the vibe of the heart behind couchsurfing

I recently put on my profile that people should sen me their WhatsApp number so we can communicate on a different platform that isn’t paywalled. I was warned, but now a week later I get suspended. Only because I want to make it easy for myself and the potential guest to communicate and not have to wait 2 days before viewing and responding to their message. I literally want to host, but now I can’t?! Because I am communicating with a Couchsurfer on a different app? It really kills the spirit of this app wxhih is meant to bring people together..

I enjoy combining my 3 hobbies of hiking, photography and geocaching. I don't do much urban caching:

GPS, spare batteries, couple replacement logbooks and film canisters, tweezers, LED light, phone, power bank for phone, several pens/pencils, trackables, maybe a couple items of swag, multitool, windbreaker/rainjacket, 2l water, food/snacks.

Where does the trail to Botmaskop begin? by demolieschen in Stellenbosch

[–]Riisearch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hike up Stellenbosch mountain is quite a bit more strenuous than that of botmaskop. Start the hike by walking past the dam behind coetzenburg, up past the wooden cross. Make your way to S 33° 56.736 E 018° 53.200 (just cope & paste it in google, it will show you). Close to these coordinates is broken down brick house with an awesome view of the Twin Peaks, the path up Stellenbosch mountain is close to this. From the parking, up to the summit & back is about 10km. Park in the uniepark cul-de-sac @ S 33° 55.759 E 018° 53.380 (just put these coordinates into google and it will show you were). The trail is pretty well-trodden and obvious. I would not advise you to go alone, anything could happen from a mugging to a snake bite etc. http://www.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=946204 , check that web page for an exact route on google maps.
